WHY R1LEY GRANNAN LOST Riley Grannan lost his injunction suit against the New York Jockey Club on mere technicality Judge Osborne ruled that the Jockey Club rule against paying jockeys for other than labor had been violated by Grannan in the Taral case and that the stewards of the club had not exceeded their authority or punished Grannan excessively by ruling him off Grannans case was badly presented One that could have taken in other cases in which the Jockey Clubs officials though knowing their facts did not act should have been presented The law of the land is against Grannan But equity is with him A similar frame was about Ed Corrigans case over the Futurity of 1891 and Hurons eligibility Corrigan lost a clean case The courts regard the turf superficially and loan toward its author ¬ ity All this is the turfs fault It does not go to the courts in the right way Oakland Form.
