THE WESTERN RACING SITUATION There are occasional bits of incandescent print about Chicago racing of the future They contain suggestions about terms of fifteen days per track for future Chicago racing What boshl bosh Under adverse circumstances Chicago racing is doing well It is the only healthy American racing outside the New York district Chicago business is gaining health by its ac ¬ tion ion The merchants of Chicago can be asked for information on this point The Chicago racing revival has been a keen stimulant to the horse interests of the western states Sales prices are bright signs of the revival Why seek to hamper and cripple a broad and healthy in ¬ dustry dusty by narrow rules growing out of person ¬ ality alit Chicago has three noble race tracks Racing is healthy and timely for five or six summer months Chicago enjoys the sport for such a term The proper and legal regulation of Chicago racing will provide for some 160 days Use of the tracks in and about Chicago Ttie Tie scope of turf legislation along the lines of American law should be limited to the assign ¬ ment meant of dates for the Chicago facing dfstrict district Turf legislation so far as Chicago is concerned is at present within the authority of the West ¬ ern Bern Turf Congress The Congress is represent ¬ ative active and able to legislate wisely for all if it will If it does not a new Western turf bod bode will be conceived and an effort made through it to regulate turf matters so that all interests can be wisely and reasonably consid consider ¬ ered erred and regulated It is to be hoped that a conflict of Western authority in turf matters will not be necessary Such a conflict is not probable though it is possible Harlem Form.
