FLORA LOUISES LOUSES GOOD RACE Mr Hiram Scoggans Slogans fast and courageous Florist Mary Louise filly Flora Louise showed a lot of quality at Harlem yesterday in the Com ¬ bination inaction Stakes 1200 in value It was for all ages and the carded field of fifteen was reduced to seven after owners had figured about candi candid ¬ dates and their chances Seven of the best horses in the West were left There was a de ¬ lay of fortyfive fortified minutes at the post and a crisp and spectacular race The Scoggan Slogan filly won by a mere head after a gallant struggle with Jim Murphys Murphy noble horse Buck Massie Massive In their effort for the prize the pair equaled OConnells O'Connell circular track record of 1 124 made at Oakley Ankle in the fall of 1895 1895Flora Flora Louise carried 88 pounds and Tommy Burns and was perhaps the most used horse at the post She was prominent in all breakaways and long before the start her admirers gave up hope Buck Massie Massive with Caywood Cawed got off a half length in front with Flora Louise fourth and in a pocket Along the back stretch Buck Massie Massive led and running the five furlongs in 1 OCi Foci was two lengths clear on the turn There he seemed to be a sure winner The horse is one of the gamest in training But about the sixteenth pole the Scoggan Slogan filly got to him and in as hard a drive as racehorses suffer out gamed and beat him Buck Massio Mansion needed the stamina of racing Gath Garth who had all kinds of bad luck came like a good horse at the end and beat the fasttiring flattering Harry Duke for third place That good but abused colt Traverser Traverse could not meet and overcome his recent use worry at the post and the fast pace and was a pnlledup paneled last lastOne Gladstone One of the finishes that are grateful to the eyes of a sportsman came out of the last race a seven furlong selling race A fnrJong frog from the post the seven contenders were all abreast and they fought it out to the end Lew Blew Hopper get ¬ ting the decision by a nose from Tranby Tabby with Serena third Travis seventh was barely a length behind Lew Blew Hopper HopperBrewer Hopper Brewer Schorrs Scorers colt Lieber Libber Karl was in a soft spot in the second race Even money was a royal price about him He carried a liberal stable commission and won all the way wayAll waybill All in all it was as eyeablo seeable an afternoons rac race ¬ ing King as has ever turned up on a local track The program promised what it produced Montana Racing Plans.
