BREWER SCHORR CHIRR HAS A GOOD DAY DAYBrewer Daydreamer Brewer Schorr Scorer had an inning yesterday at Harlem He started throe horses Sea Bobber Charley Christy and Harry McCouch McCoy The first two won and McCouch McCoy finished second The Texan bred colts defeat was a hard blow to the talent On paper he looked like a certainty and when 1 to 2 was offered the public jumped at it itSchorr kitsch Schorr Scorer bet 200 each way on Sea Robber 500 on Charley Christy and 500 on Harry McCouch McCoy McCouchThere There were only three starters in the Harry McCouch McCoy race and they were sent away at the first attempt McConck Macon went to the front at once and led by daylight into the stretch There ho began to wabble warble and Gold Band a recent ar ¬ rival from St Louis with Master Woods up caught and passed him a furlong out and won rather handily handilyW handily W C Fessenden Essence and his party came near jolt ¬ ing King the ring with Surmount in the flrat frat racs races He is a fine looking bay colt by Britannic Mary Corbett Corvette and was formally a stable com comanion companion anion of Marplot The colt opened around 15 to 1 and was quietly backed down to 8 to 1 Buskin was an even money favorite for the race and looked like a certainty He got off firing and had an advantage of nearly two lengths when straightened away Surmount came with a rush and putting Buskin to a drive was beaten only a short neck neckThe necktie The second a mile selling affair was the best betting race of the day 88a Bobber Little Land and Dan Hnger Hanger opened around 2 to 1 Sea Bobber went to 3 to 1 but was played down to 2t to 1 Huger went back to 21 to 1 and Little Land closed favorite at 7 to 5 Dan Huger and Little Land went out together and raced head and head to the stretch bend where Murphy brought Sea Bobber up on the inside and won easily Gaston came with a resolution at the end and was a good third thirdCharley childcare Charley Christy looked much the best in the third a seven furlong dash and was backed from 6 to 5 to odds on He was always near the front and had a clear lead when headed for home At the eighth pole though along came Queen Safie Safe and putting Christy to a hard drive was beaten by a mere nose Quean Safie Safe had a lot of bad racing luck and ran the best race Murphys Murphy finish on Charley Christy was powerful powerfulSo powerful So far the public had been getting the better of the ring and when Depending bobbed up at 4 to 5 they almost pulled the bookmakers off their blocks to get on him Daily Bacing Backing Form was pumped out and ran the first half in 48t then gaye gayer way to Candleblack Candlewick who won as he pleased from Depending DependingThe Depending The Harry McCouch McCoy defeat was next and this followed by Mordecais Mordancies victory over Ben Frost put the ring on the winning side Racing Dates Of 1897.
