Page [1] May W Defeats Gath. MAY W DEFEATS OATH OATHThe Oath The Speed Stakes was Saturdays Harlem racing piece Oat of it came a good race and one of the greatest surprises of the meeting Five came out and Gath Garth was the natural favor ¬ ite bite His price was always quite liberal 7 to 10 or so Flora Louise was as naturally the sec ¬ ond bond choice Algareta Algarve and Imp were both well backed on the onetwotbree basis Only May W was neglected At some stages of the betting the Western filly was as good as 30 to 1 At the second break they were sent away badly and in two divisions May W and Imp were the fav fa ¬ ored bored ones Gath Garth and Flora Louise were in the rear The pace was terrific and Gaywood Gawped who rode Gath Garth used the horse far too much in his effort to get up May W had the rail and Narvaez Larvae hugged it on the turns Bounding into the stretch Gaths Goths white face was in front and he looked like a winner at the threesix threes ¬ teenth tenth pole But his early efforts and the weight told at the end May W ran as truly as steel and standing the whip and spur like an aristocrat won by a short head Gath Garth was the same distance in front of Flora Loniso Lois and Imp who was said to have been interfered with on the tarn was lapped on Flora Louise was disqualified for interfering with Imp ImpTommy Lipton Tommy Burns had a good day riding four winners He rode a keen and skillful finish on Milwaukee in the third race beating the 1 to 6 favorite Laureate by a neck neckFour neck Four of the six races fell to the favorites and the ring had its troubles troublesTom troublesome Tom Eyan Yean took two purses with Ace and Sir Dilke Dike both at odds on Ace had a hard time beating Harry Gwynn Wynn but Sir Dilke Dike won easily and all the way wayBerclairs watercolors Berclairs Berlins easy win in the last race was a shock to form players He was woefully beaten off in his last race But the track was mnddy Mandy and not to his liking then Pee Taylor Offends Again. PEE TAYLOR OFFENDS AGAIN In the InterOcean Interwoven through which he pesters the public Pee Taylor refers to the colt Daily Hacing Hacking Form as a well named dog Cowardly spleen led Pee Taylor into his error over the colt Normally both by pedigree and performance Pee Taylor is qualified to judge dogs The ken ¬ nel noel is his own place For those whose sense of smell and sight Pee Taylor offends there is a sug slug ¬ gestion Gaston of relief in the idea of a fund to buy a kennel and some soap for Pee Taylor Within a dogboxwell washed gagged to stem the flood of lies which he steadily emits and tied to prevent further endorsement of phony checks Pee Taylor would still be a bother but the uglinesses ugliness in which the fellow abounds might be reduced Harlem To Close For Pacers. HARLEM TO CLOSE FOR PACERS The Harlem track will be closed next Wednes Swedes ¬ day so us not to conflict with the special efforts of Star Pointer and Joe Patchen Patch against the pacing records and the general harness racing around it at Ingalls1 Park Joliet 111 A dis dais ¬ play of the attractions for the day is on the second page of DAILY RACING FOHM OHM Gene Leigh To Sell Out.
