Page [1] Pat Dunne's Good Colt. PAT DUNNES DUNES GOOD COLT The track at Washington Park ripened over Sunday and Mondays course but for a section near the inside where the moisture gathers me t was fast The racing card was a small and select one Almost a recordbreaking reverberating Mon ¬ day crowd was at the track The finishes were Jess than picturesque and the racing generally rather tame tameTom tamest Tom Calverts Culverts clever victory at nine furlongs and St Callatines Palatines easy win in the closing six furlong dash were the public features of inter ¬ est estIt petit It was Tom Calverts Culverts first start this year This fact made the ring bold and buoyant Its den ¬ izens wizens made Calvert Culvert a 6 to 5 chance in the first betting The colt had worked a mile in 142 and War Jig Murphy and his friends were ex ¬ tremely trammel ssweet sweet on his chances The colt was backed down to 1 to 2 but going to the post re ¬ ceded to 3 to 5 Clawson Lawson who is riding well just now was on his back The boy was on far the best horse Yet he rode a pretty race After rounding the club house turn and swinging into the back stretch Tom Calvert Culvert was in hard k aps alps and badly pocketed Lucid was leading rQ the inside with Mistleton Mistletoe second on the out ¬ side and Hazejdean Hazed lapped on him Clawson Lawson held the colt in his place and lost no ground waiting for the natural spread of the field on the stretch turn When ho found an opening he shot Calvert Culvert to the front and the colt won easily St Callatinehad Palatine Timemaker Tidemark and a fast lot to boat Tho Theo public fancied her The California filly was backed from even money to odds on The race was a sparkling one from a time stand ¬ point After a long delay Mary Black got off in front and set a scorching pace The filly reeled off the first quarter in 23i seconds three fur ¬ longs in 35i half in 48 and five furlongs in 1 01 Then sbe be surrendered and St Callatine Palatine coming from behind won easily Timemaker Tidemark hard ridden all the way was third thirdSam thirds Sam Hildreth Children won two purses and his jockey Clawson Lawson rode three winners Before scoring with St Callatine Palatine Hildreth Children won a purse with Bellicoso Bellicose This fellow was in the fourth race j a dash of a mile On account of the distance he was overlooked by the betting faction and went to the post at 5 to 1 Bellicoso Bellicose won as he should have won and all the way He was gal ¬ loping at the finish finishThere ministered There was a cracking good field of youngsters in the first race Olinthus Plinths was the natural fav fa ¬ orite rite He ran a good race but not good enough to win Pat Dunne won the purse with Ailyar Halyard who was heavily played and handsomely ridden by W Martin The field was at the post thirty five minutes The delay may have had some effect on the result Brown Dick started a filly by Eothen Ethan Vol Viol au Vent named Volyothen Polythene and she showed a touch of quality The filly is a little bit of a thing and considering that she carried 108 pounds and stood the friction of a long delay her race was a good one oneThe Goethe The second race was an easy one for Charley Christy ChristyThere Christopher There was a bit of humor about the running up of Charley Christy by Corporal McGuigan Michigan He is not in accord with the Schorrs Scorers and is iiormally idiotically seeking a chance to give them a raise After Christy won McGuigan Michigan made a rush to get out upon the track The gateman gateau did not know him and shut the Arkansas Ken ¬ tucky tuck warrior out Official rescue was afforded him and he landed on the track just as Mr Nathanson Nathan was saying third and last call Mc ¬ Guigan Guiana commented on tho thou tight fit but he got there thereJames etherealness James B Ferguson the well known starter was a visitor He is on his way to Montana Green 2yearolds will be given a ctance stance to get used to the barrier Every Wednesday and Sat ¬ urday hurdy morning Starter Dwyer will bo at the track to school them themJohn thermion John Rodegap Bodega and John Huffman arrived from St Louis Sunday It is Huffmans Huffman opinion that Ed Farrell would have stood an excellent chance to win the American Derby had he landed in Chicago and in keen form Oakwood Handicap Weights. OAKWOOD HANDICAP WEIGHTS Yesterday in accordance with the terms of the race Secretary Howard announced his assignment of weights to the horses engaged in the Oakwood Lakewood Handicap As the race comes off next Saturday owners have less than the usual time in the case of such an important race to make up their minds as to whether they like the weights or not but that is something that could not be helped this year The weights seem to be equitably adjusted For the reason that most of the topweights stoplights are at present on the shelf from one cause or another The Roman is tho thou real topweight stoplight and from the ex ¬ cellence Hellene and speed of many of those lower down it seems that he has been given a hard task However he is a fast courageous colt and may be right in it at the finish The weights are here published and afford an interesting study to experts in tho thou subtleties of horse form formFlying fortifying Flying Dutchman 126 Satsuma 123 123Tho Tho Theo Roman 122 Geyser 122 122BuckMassie BuckMassie Euclasite 120 Fleur Flour do Lis Lisa 119 119Simon Simon W 118 Macy Marcy 118 118Imp Imp 118 Salvable 118 118Wont Wont Dance 114 Semper Simper Ego 115 115Fleischmann Fleischmann Freshman 114 Carnero Caner 115 115White White Frost 112 Installator Installation 112 112B B anergos Negroes 112 Kings Counsel Ill Paul Griggs Rigs 111 Algol 110 Dr Sheppard 110 Howards Hoards 110 Tom Cromwell 110 RamiroII Ramiro 110 Vinctor Victor 109 LieberKarl Liberal 109 Salvado Salvador 109 Dunois Dubois 108 What er Lou 108 Judge Denny Deny 108 Joe Ullman Pullman 105 Donna Rita 105 Candelaria Candelabra 105 Timemaker Tidemark 105 Greyhurst Greyhounds 103 Fervor 103 Borgia Borg 102 Dare II 102 Bannockburn Bannock 101 Presbyterian 101 Eddie Jones 101 Eugenia WickeslOO Wickets Fonsavannah 100 Remp Rep 100 Lobengula Globing 100 Bangle 99 Unbrella Umbrella 98 Schiller Chiller 98 Sacket Socket 98 Morto Morton Fonse Fosse 98 Sardonic 98 Buckvidere Duckier 98 Bishop Reed 97 Rosinante Obstinate 97 Cant Dance 96 Algareta Algarve 96 Judge Steadman Seaman SteadmanSt Steadfast 96 BingBinger Binging 95 St Roque Croquet 94 Alleviate 94 Goodrich 92 Candleblack Candlewick 92 Our Chance 91 Marcato Mercator 90 Sauber Saber 90 Marito Marion 90 Stakes At Washington Park.
