Jackson, of the Belle Meade Stud, has sold to William Easton, presumably for W. C. Whitney, Yorkvilla Balle,. with a foal by her side by Tithoi'us, by St. Simon. The price is said to be $10,000 This famous racemare became the prt perty or Bello Meade Stud when Gen. Jackson purchased Mr. Croker's interest therein suvrHl years since. Fieak, the three-year-old half sister to Forget and Frogmore, will be sent to Memphis where she will be given a special preparation for the rich Tennessee Oaks by Pat. Tomlinson. General Jackson has also sold twelve of his yearling fillies, most of them by Iroquois, to Bruce Seaton, of England. This leaves only colts for the Belle Meade spring sale, which will take place in New York. T. R. Scott has sold to John Troxler, of this city, the four-year-old chestnut filly Lady of the West, by Chorister Daphne. Price $1,500. H. N. McTyeire, of Nashville, has purchased of the estate of W. M. Edwards, Union City, Tenn., the stallion Longfish, by Longfellow-Kate Fisher. Death of Tremont DEATH OF TREJIONT. A dispatch from Nashville conveys the information that the stallion Tremont broke his stifle Thursday night while in his paddock at Belle Meade, and in consequence was destroyed. Tremont was a black, by Virgil Ann Fief, by Lexington. He only raced as a two-year-old. Then he was an invincible racehorse. That was in 1886. He started in thirteen races and won them all. Over the various tracks around New York he won the Sequence Stakes and Juvenile Stakes at Jerome Park, Foam Stakes, Surf Stakes, Zephyr Stakes, Paddock Stakes, Spring Stakes, Juno Stakes, Great Post Stakes and Good Bye Stakes at Coney Island, and the Atlantic Stakes, Tyro Stakes and Junior Champion Stakes at Monmouth Park. He was a wonder on any kind of track and made such a horse as Kingston look common. Ringbone , stopped his career and ho was sold to David Swigertfor $25,000. When Swigert's breeding establishment was sold out General W. H.Jackson bought Tremont for $17,500. At the stud he ! was not the success he was as a racehorse, Nashville Stable Lists NASHVILLE STABLE LISTS. Notes of the Turf NOTES OF THE TURF. Of the 203 entries received to the Lawrence Realization for 1900, only thirty-six have declared, leaving 172 still eligible. The Futurity of 1899 received 755 nominations, of which 171 are void, and 307 have declared, which leaves 277 still eligible. The entries in full to both of these events are published in The Racing Calendar of March 2. The Spirit of the Times declares that it has it from the best of authority that there will positively be no running meeting at Washing ton Park this year unless the bill now before the Illinois legislature is passed, The prospects, we are glad to state, are most favorable for the passage of the bill. Jockey Fred Taral has signed to ride the coming season for Eastin & Larabie, owners of Baa Holladay. San Francisco Winners j j ( , j ( j j '. ! SAN FRANCISCO "WINNERS.
