This is also the last day of the successful meeting of the New Louisville Jockey Club. Monday the spring meeting at Newport terminates with a special card and free admission to the fair sex. Today's issue of Daily Racing Form presents the entries for racing over seven different tracks — enough, surely, to satiate the mind of the most devoted student of the vagaries and perplexities of that somewhat elusive quantity called form. Hereafter there will seldom be more than five tracks in operation at once. Tuesday the central point of interest in western racing will be the opening day at Latonia with the Latonia Derby, over the proper Derby route of a mile and a half, as the star attraction. There is a big list of eligibles, but the probable starters appear to be limited to Cor. sini, Prince McClurg, His Lordship, Ways and Means, Eberhart, Leo Planter, Cambrian, Deer-| ' ing. The Barrister and The Kentuckian. Of these Corsim will be penalized five pounds for winning the California Derby and Clark Stakes, making his weight 127 pounds. All of the others except Prince McClurg and Leo Planter are entitled to non-winning or maiden allowances, so that if they all start their weights will be: Prince McClurg, 122; Leo Planter, 122; The Kentuckian, 117; Ways and Means, 114; Eberhart, 114; Cambrian, 114; Deering, 114; The Barrister, 114, and Ris Lordship, 110. With such variation in weights the elements of a good race are provided and it is to be hoped sunshine and a fast track will help to bring out a huge attendance to cheer the gallant winner of the thirteenth Latonia Derby. Secretary Nat hanson has published the program for the opeuing day at Harlem May 30. The conditions of the special events arranged for the occasion are as follows: Handicap for three-year-olds and upward. Entrance, $5 each and $10 additional if not declared; with $750 added, of which $125 to second and $75 to third. 1 1-16 miles. Handicap for three-year-olds and upward; $10 each if not declared; with $500 added, of which $75 to second and $25 to third. 5-8 mile-Entrance and declaration fees divided among the first three horses as usual, Barney Schreibar expects to send a select division of his stable to Saratoga. Miss Marion, Jinks, Schiller and the cream of his 2-year-olds will be shipped east in July. The Master of Woodlands thinks he has a promising colt in Boundlee, the speedy son of Boundless and Parolee, dam Genua, which ran several creditable races at the Fair Grounds last season. The famous old race mare Highland, which ran so many good races in the mud at the Fair Grounds in the early '90$, foaled a fine bay colt by Sain at Schreiber's farm Tuesday night. Highland's first foal, a bay colt by Balgowan, called Heine, is a 2-year-old and is in training in Schreiber's string at the Fair Grounds.— St. Louis Republic. Bob Rose announces that the racing firm of Rogers 6c Rose will be dissolved shortly and all their horses disposed of under the hammer. Rose is one of the big bookmakers of the American turf, while Rogers has always ranked as one of the best trainers in the country. His health has been bad lately and this is given as the reason for the firm's dissolution, Rose was formerly in partnership with Eugene Leigh. They had the strongest string on the American turf one year, such turf celebrities as Clifford, Ducat, Handspun, Urania and Chant being in their stable. When he separated from Leigh, Ro8ebough^hflor^or^6j000^^^^^^^^ Lakeside Racing. LAKESIDE RACING. There was a lot of excitement and some really good racing at Lakeside yesterday. The excitement was caused by the disqualification of Huronia, who finished second in the first race, and Dalgretti, the winner of the fifth. The racing features came out of the second and third events. That Huronia committed a foul and should have been set back was evident, but the judge's decision in setting Dalgretti back and giving Miss Ross the race caused considerable comment. Miss Boss was an even money chance for her race and was heavily played. She got off in front and lead clear into the stretch. About the eighth post the mare began to tire and Dalgretti on the outside and Yours Truly on the rail closed in on her. The mare was certainly pinned in between the pair and Clay was unable to use his whip, but on the other hand, she had Yours Truly on the fence and at one time it looked as though he would surely go down. This caused Wilson to pull up, and the other two going on, finished close together with Dalgretti in front. After weighing in the boys on the first three horses were called into the stand and given a hearing. Assistant judge Nathan-son said that Flick admitted that his mount bore in a trifle on Miss Ross and he was disqualified. Miss Ross was placed first, Yours Truly second and Hosi third. Many thought Sunburst had finished in front of Hosi. Barring accidents Yours Truly would probably have won. Harry Nutter's game performance was the racing feature. This colt was in at a mile along with John Baker, Fonclif and Cogmoosey and was ridden by T. Knight. It hardly looked as though he could beat Cogmoosey, yet he had a good following at 3 to 1, When the barrier went up Harry Natter was last and in a bad position on the rail. Knight saw he had no chance to get through on the first turn, and drawing his whip started to go around. He pumshsd the colt hard to get in a good position and wuen the half mile post was reached he was second, head and head with John Baker. After being used so much early it seemed probable that the colt would tire, but he did not and outgaming John Baker through the 8 1 retch won a well-earned purse by a neck. Taking everything into consideration it was the bast performance of the meeting so far. The mile was run in 1:421. Odt of the second race came a hot finish be" tweeu Rosavannah, Eva Wilson and Clara Meader, they finishing in the order named. Eva Wilson, who is none too game, was overhauled by Rosavannah at the draw-gate, and from there to the wire the pair had a head and head struggle. Below the sixteenth post Clara Meader shot out of the bunch, and was gaining rapidly on the pair at the end. She had bad racing luck, but would have won had the race been one mile. Nullah galloped away with the first race, and Huronia finished second, but the latter, for almost putting the favorite, Florence Anetia, over the fence at the head of the stretch, was disqualified. Old Meddler is a hot horse these days and was a 1 to 3 shot for the fourth event. He won, and won like a stake horse, off by himself and pulled almost to a walk. He was entered for $400, bat Louis Ezell made one bid of $1,000. Chut De Witt kept the old warrior for $1,005. Scatcohen lay behind Marco Polo to the stretch in the last race and then galloped over him at her leisure, winning as she pleased by a naif dozen lengths. Mulvihill, the favorite, overhauled Marco Polo in the final furlong and beat him for the place. I ' Page [2] DAILY RACING FORM AND AMERICAN TURF CONGRESS RECORD. ISSUED EVERY DAY.
