NO. 309. CHICAGO, SOTDAY A!N"D MONDAY, DECEMBER 24-25, 1899, PRICE, 5 CENTS Fortunes in Sight FORTUNES IN SIGHT. Yesterday's Dailt Racing Foem referred to the vast snms of money involved in the ultimate decision of the BtakeB now offered by a number of jockey clubs, entries to which will cloee within a few d8ys. The estimates printed here as to the probable value of these events of the future are roughly made, but in the long ran will probably be found to run below rather than above the actual results. The Futurity, as experience has shown, might easily run up to $0 000 or more. The figures presented below are certainly encouraging to horse owners and breeders, and when it is considered that the WeetcheBtor, Saratoga, St. Louis. Latonia, Washington, Aqueduct, Nashville and possibly two of the Chicago tracks are yet to enter the field with their lists of stakes, it can easily be Eeen that the aggregate here suggested will be swelled to much more than half a million dollars, nearly all of which is simply far the spring and early summer meetings. The stakes now offered for the consideration of owners and breeders are of the following estimated gross value: The Coney Island Jockey Club, close January 3, 1900.
