KEENES YEABI1NGS YEABI1NGSAn An interesting letter from Lexington dealing with the horses at J B Keeues Castleton stud says saysThe The brood mare list at Castleton now num ¬ bers seventyseven head that the only dam of an English Oaks winner that was ever on American soil Winners of the Derby and victors in the St Lager and 2000 Guineas have boon imported into this country but no American has ever laid down enough money to induce an Englishman to part with an Oaks winner or the dam of one As Cap and Bells is tho first American production to win this classic event hor dam now has a new record among American brood mares of all time Ben My Chreo in conformation is an ideal brood mare and luckily for her aristocratic own ¬ ers has proven a regular breeder Her year ¬ ling this year is an exceedingly hightypad bay colt by Kingston his only mark a bright star and he resembles no little Cap and Bells at the same age He is one of his owners Eng ¬ lish Derby candidates for 1903 and will winner of the Derby and St Leger There are twenty two other yearling colts at Castleton and nine ¬ teen fillies Some of the latter will go to Eng ¬ land having classic engagements there includ ¬ ing the Oaks while the others will carry tho white and blue spots on the eastern tracks tracksA A complete list of this great yearling col ¬ lection follows and it is questionable if any racing stable in this country ever had such a bunch of youngsters to pick from and indications seems to point to the Keene stable both in England and this country being stronger in twoyearolds in 1902 than ever bafore These colts and fillies will remain at Castleton in Major Daingerfiolds care for a few weeks longer when they will be shipped East and fully broken The farm hands do no more than handle them to the
