Although there was no stake race up for decision yesterday the card was well balanced throughout and was productive of a good day's sport. The most important race of the day was the fifth, a dash of seven furlongs for three-year-olds and upward. The Lady was thought to be the best at the weights and was made an eleven to ten favorite but failed to finish in the first three, the winner turning up in Scarlet Lily which ran up to her best form. She led from start to finish, and al. though closely pressed in the last sixteenth struggle rallied with determination winning handily by a half length from John McGurk which beat Homestead a neck for second place. John McGurk was probably the best, but was the victim of a poor ride. He was all entangled at the start and lost many lengths and then was cut off at least, three different times during the race. Ho finished with a rush and was gaining at the end, Homestead also finished strongly and ran a good race. Little Robbins was not strong enough to ride The Lady with vigor and she ran below the good form she is known to possess. Money Muss took the second race handily by three-quarters of a length from Mary McCafferty, which beat Golden Rule a neck for second place. The day's first race proved to be an easy thing for Ledus, well backed by T. H. Ryan, he winning easily by one length from James J. Corbett, which beat Best Man a head for. second place. Linguist, showing much improvement over his last race, took the fourth, winning easily by one length from Gravina, which beat Sarah Maxima neck for second place. Alfred C. proved to bo the best in the fifth race. winning by two and a half lengths from Worthing-ton, which beat Edinborongh one for second place. The last race was won by Huzzah by a nose from Scotch Plaid, which beat Edith Q. two lengths for second place. Scotch Plaid pulled up lame after the race. The usual large crowd was present and the betting, although brisk, was comparatively light. A strong wind blew up the stretch all afternoon, which militated against very fast time being made. Good Horses for Sale GOOD HORSES FOB SALE. The Fasig-Tipton Company will sell some cracking good race horses at Morris Park Friday and Saturday. The sale is one that should attract I patronage from westorn owners who may wish to strengthen their stables.
