Winner Ch. g, by RouBseau La Reina (trained by E. Carey). Went to post at 4 :20. At post 1 minute. Start straggling. Won driving; second the same. Diderot beat the barrier and made most of his advantage on the first turn, then was held in reserve to the last furlong where he came again with a rush and caught Illowaho napping. The latter, easily best, waited under a pull for six furlongs, taking a commanding lead in the stretch and appeared a sure winner, but Ranch throw the race off carelessly. Marque, at a disadvantage because of the slow, early pace, was outsprinted in the last part, but was closing up fast under an inadequate ride. Lord Badge, away badly, nearly fell on the first turn, then rushing upon the winner's heels forced the pace to the stratcb where Illowaho ran past him and quit badly at the end and is evidently not in good form.
