OXFORD KICKED BY FAUST. M'LAUGHLIN'S GREY COLT MAY NOT START IN THE CARTER. Madden Wins with Servile and Senator Barrett — Sells Servile and Gold Foil-Stirrup Breaks on Ben Cole. Washington. P. C.i April 12. — Developments over i ight will deli inline whether the Carter llaudi ap is to lose one of i t - iin»t proini-ing eligiblos. Oxford was kicked by t'aust while at the i ost for the Ja-l race today. Oxford won the race in runaway style, hut the blow he received from the heels of Kaust liN keil so serious that James McLaughlin ■ ailed in a veiernarian to examine the horse. The ellects of the injury, if any. would not develop until alter the horse had cooled out and result! will not lie known until tomorrow morning. Oxford iualitied handsomely for the Aqueduct feature. He took up 131 jKiunds and simply galloped his opponents to a standstill over a mile route, running away from the others in the otnleh. Tlie grey never looked better and iiis loss to the Carter field would rob the race of one starter with a splendid chance. .lohu B. Madden was much in evidence today. His colors were carried to the front in two races, Servile beating the odds-on favorite. Ben Cole, iu the second race, while the big. tine-looking Senator Barrett outgamed Marston for the following race. There was some luck in favor of Servile, how ever, as in a driving finish Miller, on Ben Cole, broke a stirrup just before the finish and the colt faltered just when lie was slowly, but surely gain nig on Servile. After the lUCC Mr. Madden sold Servile to Will Shields for .fj.ono. Be also sold the I'lanudes colt. Gold foil, to George Odom for Senator Barrett and Oxford were the winning-■ajtoffteS. I ton Of money was lost by the defeat • f Bight and True, Ben Cede and Canvas. The latter was backed from o to 1 to 7 to E and was also homily sup| orlcd away from the course. While the horses were at the post lor the first lace, llic slable connections backed 1. Amour well at M to 1 and won liand-oniely to the race. The horse hail been worked regularly here, but escaped the eyes of the ubiquitous touts. The spring meeting of the Mankind Jockey Cluh, which will begin al the famous old I'imlico race course a week from tomorrow, promises to excel any of the several nicelings that have been held under the auspices of the present management.
