NO. 301. CHICAGO, TUESDAY, DECEMBER 17, 1907. PRICE 5 CENTS Lad of Langden's Victory: Defeats Pasadena and Carthage in Chief Race at New Orleans LAD OF LANGDEN'S VICTORY DEFEATS PASADENA AND CARTHAGE IN CHIEF RACE AT NEW ORLEANS. Una Fast In Mud Free Booter In Front Dr. McCluer's Racing Causing Trouble Many Eastern Arrivals. New Orleans, La., December 1C. What may eventually develop Into another scandal of the Me-CalTerty-niirnell order, was started here today when Phil King boosted Dr. McCIuer. winner of the sixth race, to 1,000, a raise of $S00 over his entered price. When King discovered that P. SI. Civill was determined to retain Dr. McCIuer, he dropped out of the bidding after running the horse to a price which lie probably considers far in excess of his real value. The trouble between King and Civill dates back to a race run December 11, In which Dr. McCIuer was beaten off under what was said to be a bad ride by Warren. King holds the contract on Warren and Civill complained to. the officials about Warren's ride, claiming that th.e lad disobeyed instructions. King intimates that Dr. McCIuer was run "cold" under Warren and "hot" in his next race when Mountain rode him. There was nothing exciting about the sport today outside of the run-up. The finishes were tame, but ns four of the events were "won by the favorites, the public was well satisfied with its afternoon's entertainment. P. M. Civill furnished the winners in the third and sixth races in Halliard and Dr. McCIuer. Both horses were ridden by Mountain and both won their races in but little better than a canter. In the feature race, a mile and seventy yards handicap, Lnd of Jkanpilon made his opponents look cheap by making a runaway race of it and winning under restraint by five lengths from Pasadena. The olds-on favorite, Carthage, was a distant trailer all the way and was beaten out three lengths for second place. J. W. Pngh's Free Booter earned bis first victory of the meeting when he beat out.Magic in the opening race. The conditions of the race called for a high scale of weights and this just suited Free Booter, which won easily after trailing the leaders to the homestretch. Una, winner of the second race, was sold to the ex-steeplechase jockey George B. Cochran by Wayne Joplin a few days ago for $250. Una was a gift filly, William Karrick throwing her in as "lagni-appn" when Joplin purchased Bellwether and Ja-votte of the Oncck Stable for A. F. Mathews. Jockey Warren today received a telegram from liis mother to return to Ills home in Covington, Ky., Immediately. Phil King, who employs the lad, was also requested to send the boy home, but thought that it was an inopportune time for Warren 1o leave while there was so much uncomplimentary talk about liis riding. A large delegation of easterners arrived today. Many of them came from New York on the steamship Momus. Among the newcomers were Peter OafTney, John Griffin, Ed Austin, O. W. Thomas, Jerry Lynch, S. W. Keenan, John T. Kagan, James J. Dunn, Sain T. Spencer, J. II. Spencer, Isaac Manheimer, S. C. Van Dyke. W. A. Kelly, Edward D. Kelly, J. W. McConnell, Ed Gott and Bol) Lloyd and his crew. Ed and Walter Kelly, John Eagan and James Dunn will leave for Califor nia tomorrow. Riley Grannan left for Los Angeles Saturday night, where lie will remain for the remainder of the winter. Envoy got the better of his rider while being oxercised at City Park this morning and ran off tliree miles. The filly Consistent reached here in good condition from New York. She came down on the steamship Momus. v Stella Perkins, which started in the first race, is the dam of the good colt Blagg. It was her first start in four or five years. Charles Patterson, of Ornament fame, arrived from Benning today. D. R. Hyner and E. A. Whitney arrived today from New York and J. Booker came down from his home in Decatur, 111. More Fast Time at Santa Anita: Frank Flittner Runs a Mile in 1:38 4-5 Stanley Fay Defeats Colonel Bob MORE FAST TIME AT SANTA ANITA. Frank Flittner Runs a Mile in 1:38 4-5 Stanley Fay Defeats Colonel Bob. Los Angeles, Cal., December 10. Before leaving Los Angeles today racing enthusiasts began to study their mud "dope" but about the time the bugle sounded calling the horses to the post the clouds lifted and Old Sol shone throughout the rest of the afternoon. The card was an ordinary wash day offering, but was productive of some sharp-ind interesting finishes. A field of nine of the best horses here met in the last race, which was by far the best of the day from a speculative standpoint. Edwin Gum, on the strength of his last performance, was made a decided favorite, lint ran far below expectations, finishing an indifferent sixth. The winner turned up In Frank Flittner, which finished so impressively last Tuesday. He was well supported by the wise players and made good by coming through witli a great rush in the final furlong, beating out Lisaro, by a lengtli with Eduardp third. William "Red" Walker, who is beginning to make bis presence felt here, scored with Stanley Fay in the opener. The colt trailed Colonel Bob until well into the stretch and had little trouble iu (orglng to the front in the final eighth. Colonel Bob beat out Niblick by a head in a sharp drive through the last sixteenth. The crowd was probably the lightest of the meeting, but the betting was spirited and the books bad a shade the better of the day. . John Shields got in today from New York with a number of horses. Western Jockey Club in Being: Reports of Its Disbandment and the Rejection of Steward Bush Incorrect WESTERN JOCKEY CLUB IN BEING. Reports of Its Disbandment and the Rejection of Steward Bush Incorrect. It was reported Monday in newspapers published in Chicago and elsewhere that the Western Jockey Club was about to disband. The New Orleans dispatches say that C. S. Bush, who is a steward of that body, has been informed that his services in the stand at the Fair Grounds track would not be required this winter. The published reports also ray that the Western Jockey Club would have disbanded several years ago, but for the fact that the stewards did not want to give up their yearly salary and traveling expenses to the monthly meetings and that the expense of keeping up the organization lias been in the neighborhood of $10,000 a year. The stewards, it is slid, were depending upon the revenues to be derived from the Crescent City Jockey Club, but that internal strife and discord in this organization has resulted in their keeping all of the revenue derived from the race meetings conducted at that track in its own treasury and that this has hastened the disruption of the governing body. These published reports also have it that at the monthly meeting, which was held at the offices in this city September 2, the question of disbanding was before the stewards, but that the Cella interest, was outvoted and the Cella members did not press the matter further, for the reason that they control the Crescent City Jockey Club, at New Orleans and adopted the subsequent method of withholding its financial support and that all the fines and license fees collected would nob find their way into the funds of the Western Jockey Club. John Condon said yesterday that he had heard nothing of the reported intention to disband "the Western Jockey Club and was of the opinion lie would know about it if any such move was contemplated or in action. Furthermore, he made the interesting statement that for the last two years the stewards of the Western Jockey Club have voluntarily- lieeri" serving-without -salary. This -would seem to eviscerate the backbone of the New Orleans story. Secretary Woodruff also said the whole story was in the line of unexpected news to him and seemed undisturbed as to his tenure of office. Altogether it seems some excellent newspapers have been decidedly imposed on. As to the status of Mr. Bush, the following dispatch seems to cover the ' case. New Orleans, La., December ,16. The Fair Grounds officials today issued a denial of the statement wired 'from here last-night to the effect that the Crescent City Jockey Club had withdrawn from the Western Jockey Club. It Is admitted that no remittances have been made to the old government body to cover receipts from licenses issued to trainers and jockeys, as that matter is held in alieyance under an agreement with tlie officials of the American Turf Association. A license issued by either is recognized by the other;' so to all practical purposes, as far as the local situation is concerned, the American Turf Association and Western Jockey Club are but one body, the only difference being in some details of the rules' directly governing the racing. 'Mr. Bush is recognized in every way as the steward of. -the Western Jockey Club, but under the agreement that no stockholder of either track shall enter the. judges' stand, he does not go there. Ex-Jockey Trainers in the South EX-JOCKEY TRAINERS IN THE SOUTH. New Orleans, La., December 1C. It is surprising th'e number of ex-jockeys that are here this winter with stables. George Odom has a big string at the Fair Grounds, which includes besides others Comedienne and Oraculum. James McLaughlin has several at City Park -one of which is the speedy filly Wabash Queen. Willie Martin is training a division of R. E. Clark's stable. Kuhn has Coramuni-paw and a couple of others. Jimmy Frayling has E. S. Gardner's string. J. J. McCafferty has the big Wernberg stable in" charge and Hugh Penny has a couple of two-year-olds. " Antrim Yearlings Sell Poorly ANTRIM YEARLINGS SELL POORLY. Oakland, Cal., December 1C. Yearlings from the Antrim Farm of Charles Kerr were sold for a song at Chase's pavilion last Thursday. The bay colt by Kismet Virginia Dare, the dam of San Nicholas and War Times, went to William Sylvester for $350. J. 31. Staratt secured the Cromwell Rillito colt for $410, .the top price of the sale. A full sister to Joe Nealon went begging and was knocked down to a bid of $80. A numbor of other well-bred youngsters were sold for from $70 to $100. Alleged Ringer at New Orleans: Madri's Entry Rejected and Evidence Connecting Her with Farley Found ALLEGED RINGER AT NEW ORLEANS. Madri's Entry Rejected and Evidence Connecting Her with Farley Found. New Orleans, La., December '1C. The' officials of the Crescent City Jockey Club "spoiled -wkaVnnlght-have been a sensational coup, second only to that pulled off here several years ago by the Hiram Johnson crowd, when they ordered that Madri be scratched out of the first race on account of insufficient identification. The presence here of E. E. Farley for a week past naturally made the track officials suspicions and alert, and it was deemed wise to keep a strict watch on horses that were starting for the first .time- The mare Madri was among the fifteen entered in the first raco today and was on the programme as a four-year-old bay mare by Altamax or Take Notice out of'Mad-rina, owned .by E. H. Ewing and trained by L. Peters. Owner Ewing is unknown to the officials here but is said to reside in Jolict, 111. Peters has been racing Bluleen and Reveille in the west for the past few ye'ars. lie claims that during the meeting at Latonia a colored man came to him and asked that he train the mareMadri for him. He could not give the name of the party, who afterwards .proved to be Faulkner, alias Wilson, the colored rubber who was identified with the attempt to ring the horse Freckman as Cataract in a race at Jamaica a couple of years ago. It developed that Faulkner himself had the mare Madri at Latonia and that Peters had had her in his stable less than two weeks. It was also reported that Madri had been racing around the half mile tracks in E. E. Farley's name. Faulkner brought the mare to the paddock, but when he found that she was scratched he immediately took her to the barn outside of the track where she is stabled. Ex-jockey J. W. Ncwcom claims that the filly-carded today as Madri was raced last August at Libertyville, III., under the name of Miss Bertha, and that she beat Henry Hentricks there in half-mile heats. Hentricks was trained by Newcom, and he protested the payment of the purse to Miss Bertha on the grounds that she was a ringer. His protest was sustained, and the executive committee of the American Trotting Association ruled off Miss Bertha and every one connected with lier. The filly at the time of her running at Libertyville was bandied by George Faulkner, alias George Wilson, of Freckman ringing fame. In the heat race at Libertyville referred to Newcom claims that Henry Hentricks beat Miss Bertha the first heat in 49, Miss Berttia taking the next two in 4SJ and 00 respectively. Newcom claims that George Faulkner attemtped to brazen it out today by leading the filly Into the paddock, believing that the heavy moustache he had grown would prevent his recognition. The mistake that the officials made was in not taking possession of Madri and holding her until she was fully identified. Pointing Oakland's Youngsters POINTING OAKLAND'S YOUNGSTERS. San Francisco, Cal., December 10. Within a short while the trainers will be pointing some of their yearlings for early 100S juvenile racing. Even now the quarter stretch is hearing a lot of talk of prospective champions among the yearlings which are soon to enter the racing. Of last winter's crop of two-year-olds, T. H. Williams drew the prize in Firestone. This winter there are more coming two-year-olds on the coast than ever fieforc. From what one hears there may be several FIrestones too. Sam Hlldreth has a fine band, while R. F. Carman says he owns the best selected lot of yearlings in America. "Boots" Durnell Invested his early year winnings in yearlings. He has some good youngsters according to the dockers. One yearling colt, by Star Shoot, is highly prized by the young horseman. Hildrcth offered Durnell $3,000 cash for him one recent morning on the gallops around, but only got a laugh from Durnell in response. Durnell is down and Out: Pacific Jockey Club Stewards Take Decisive Action DURNELL IS DOWN AND OUT PACIFIC JOCKEY CLUB STEWARDS TAKE DECISIVE ACTION. Oakland Races Contested by Low Class Horses Grace G. Takes the Main Fea- ture--Rough Riding in Evidence. Oakland, Cal., December 1C. Immediately upon receipt of official confirmation . from the Jockey Club of the published reports of its recent ruling against C. E. Durnell, which came during the forenoon in the shape of a telegram addressed to Percy W. Treat, and signed by Algernon Daingcrfield, the stewards of the New California Jockey Club notified Durnell that his entries in tomorrow's handicap must be withdrawn. Later in the day the stewards of the Pacific Jockey Club, Thomas II. Williams, Daniel Burns and Adam Andrew, held a meeting at which similar action against Durnell was taken. This means that he will not, be allowed to race on any track under the jurisdiction of the turf governing body of the Pacific coast, which includes Santa Anita, Seattle, Butte, Denver and a numlier of licensed minor meetings held west of tiia Rocky Mountains. Presiding steward E. C. Hopper said that Mr. Durnell will no longer be permitted to make any local riding engagements for his crack lightweight jockey, Eddie Dugan, but can delegate an agent approved by the stewards. He will, however, be al- lowed to sell his horses, Including their stake engagements, by private sale or at auction. But Durnell must convince the stewards that each sale has been made in good faith and to a bona fide purchaser. Track-privileges will not,' however, be denied him. Durnell refused to talk any further for publication, simply saying he did not know what he was going to do. Notwithstanding the present spell of wot weather with resultant mnddy track conditions, there Is no apparent diminution of interest - and attendance. Fully 5,000 spectators saw a card of sis races decided today, in .which a great majority of the horses engaged were selling platers of the cheapest class. ' What was chiefly remarked about such, a moderate off-day's racing was the activity displayed in the ring, where thirty-four layers had all they could do to handle the money wagered by the public. Well backed horses scored all down the line, although only two started post favorites in Nine Spot and Grace G. Miller achieved his only success of the day on the former. He rode two favorites and three second choices to defeat in the other races. Jockey J. Mcintyre, who has been riding the past five years with some success in France, made his reappearance on Wilmore, a well backed second choice in the opening race. Wilmore performed poorly in his hands. The running of the first two races was marked by considerable rough riding. Both of the two winners. Buto and Edith James, should have been disqualified. After an exhibition on Wap, that was beneath the level of a stable lad in crudeness, Mil-. ' ler declined to claim a foul agaiust the winner i-of the first. The Trouble with Davy Johnson THE TROUBLE WITH DAVY JOHNSON.) The periodical story comes from New York that Davy Johnson, the great plunger and owner of Roseben, is again "broke." His financial condition is charged to the race tracks. As a matter of fact Johnson has floundered to the shore many times through his turf success and would be occasionally short of funds if he kept a store. He is an intemperate chance taker. Sibola's Good English Son SIBOLA'S GOOD ENGLISH SON. Baltinglass, the three-year-old winner of the Manchester November Handicap, on the last day of the flat racing season in England, is by Isinglass, out of the American mare Sibola, which the late Pierre Lorillard always declared should have won him the Epsom Oaks in her year. She lost through being practically left at the post. "Boots" Durnell No War Cry "BOOTS" DURNELL NO WAR CRY. Oakland, Cal., December 1G. The sensation mongers are seeking to build a new racing war out of the discipline given "Boots" Durnell by the Jockey Club. Long dispatches here tell about Durnell being invited to race at New Orleans by Ed Cor-rigan as a rebuke to the Jockey Club. No such invitation has' been given and none is expected. Durnell has been notified that he will not be allowed to make entries here and is preparing to sell his horses. He will seek vindication in a reasonable way and may - succeed in having the bar against him lifted, as he expects. His contract op jockey E. Dugan is a good one and will also be sold, if Durnell cannot race on the metropolitan courses. Mr. II. P. Whitney may purchase the contract wlie. the time comes that Durnell decides to sell. Lexington, Ky., December 1C Mr. Corrigan is not responsible fo- the stories sent from here about his taking sides with "Boots" Durnell against the Jockey Club and inviting Durnell to race bis horses here. "I. am attending to my own business, not the Jockey Club's or Durnell's," said Mr. Corrigan, when asked about the matter. Mr. and Mrs. Corrigan left tonight for Magnolia Springs, Ala., where Mrs. Corrigan will spend the winter. To Oust Charles F. Grainger TO OUST CHARLES F. GRAINGER. Louisville, Ky., December lC.-Governor Wilson, of Kentucky, is said to have decided to remove former Mayor Charles F. Grainger, of Louisville, and Louis Des Cognets, of Lexington, from the State Racing Commission and appoint in their stead George Long, the thoroughbred breeder and turfman of Louisville and Colonel H. H. Johnson of Lexington. Colonel Johnson is the president of the National Trotting norse Breeders' Association, but is actively engaged in the breeding of thoroughbreds and maintains a stable of racers. With these changes effected, the commission will consist of Colonel Jack Cliinn; Colonel Milton Young; Colonel E. F. Clay; Colonel Johnson and Colonel Young, all breeders of thoroughbreds. Radtke's Russian Engagement RADTKE'S RUSSIAN ENGAGEMENT. . The engagement jockey Herman Radtke will fill next year in Russia was made for him by his old employer, J. O. Keene, arid is for the Chicago boy to ride for M. Michael de Lazerell. Just now Radtke, at Los Angeles, cannot ride at less thaa 110 pounds. Radtke has ability enough to make his way in Russia if he behaves himself. He has had many chances since Jim Davis turned bim over to Keene, who transferred him to P. J. Rainey. Success turned Radtke's head and after starting brilliantly in the east, his incorrigible behavior got him into a peck of trouble. He was frequently suspended by the starter and was unjustly ruled off for a ride on the horse Tommy Waddell that was questioned. Through the 'influence of Paul J. Rainey, who had purchased his contract for $25,000, Radtke was finally reinstated, but he fell into the old ways and was finally released. The boy was picked up by John E. Madden and F. R. Hitchcock, but still he preferred the bright lights of Broadway and Coney Island and the exercise of a particularly bad temper. Instead of earning perhaps $30,000 a year, Radtke is now practically penniless, with only a few friends left to help him. It is to be hoped that all this will be a lesson to the boy who has. ability enough to become the star rider of the Russian turf in 1007. Page 2 DAILY RACING FORM PUBLISHED DAILY EXCEPT MONDAY. Los Angeles, Cal., December 16. E. J. Baldwin's famous horse, Emperor of Norfolk, winner of the American Derby and Brooklyn Derby in 18S8, and many other important stake races, died at Santa .Anita ranch yesterday morning. His owner was overcome with grief and will have a monument erected to preserve the memory of what he always maintained was the greatest race horse ever bred in California. Virginia's "Legitimate Scale" VIRGINIA'S "LEGITIMATE SCALE." Memphis, Tenn., December 1G. Captain James H. Reus, well known in western racing circles, has just returned from a trip throurh"" Virginia and North Carolina. He says he agrees with Tennessee turfmen that a "bettingless" meeting in tliis state is the only possible solution of racegoers unless the new organization planned on the Atlantic coast states reclaims racing under conditions that existed during ante-bellum days. The new organization, launched in Virginia will try to operate racing on what is referred to as a "legitimate" scale, and is composed of such well-known racing men as II. T. Oxnard, II. G. Brecken-ridge, James Kerr, R. J. Hancock, Arthur Hancock, Robert Neville and William Garth. Notes of the Turf NOTES OF THE TURF. J. S. McDonald, a California correspondent, refers io It. F. Carman as "a rough toss gambler wifh a New York society prestige." The Canadian turfman, J. J. Walsh, has sent to New Orleans for jockey John Bullman. Bullman rode for Walsh on the Canadian circuit last season. Alfred Stanford, who was a good rider on the tracks around San Francisco twelve or fifteen years ago, was a visitor at the Oakland track a few days last week. Tony Wallace, who last year managed the Suburban Park merry-go-round at McDonoughville, La., is handling a less than formidable string for Talbot Bros, at New Orleans. It Is reported that James B. Brady, the New York turfman, will spend the winter at Los Angeles, where he will devote the afternoons to watching th races at the new track. The New York Telegraph absurdly, spitefully iiul editorially declares that '.'Boots" Durnell suffered because August Belmont sought to pay off an old debt against John W. Gates. The jockeys riding at Oakland are forming a lwseball team to play the newsboys' team. The first game will probably be played next Sunday. . Walter Miller Is slated to play on second base. Jockey W. Fischer is trying to remove the ban placed on him a short time ago when they restricted Ills riding to that of his contract employer, J. B. Dunn. Fischer w'ants to take some outside mounts..! I Riley Grannan still hangs on to the racing game and is at New Orleans betting in a small way, but persistently and with the average luck of a man who by temperament and training chooses the betting avocation. Barney Schrciber expects to divide his time this winter between Santa Anita Park and Oakland, but he is said to be partial to the new track, in which he owns a large interest, and may accordingly be tempted to spend the greater part of the winter there. W. W. Finn has been offered tempting sums from U. Z. De Annan and others for the unexpired contract Finn has with jockey Heatherton. As the contract has sixteen months yet to run Finu says he is In no hurry to sell It, as he agrees With most of his friends that Heatherton, with opportunity to develop, will become a first-class rider. Jacob Pincus, the veteran rider and trainer, has a couple of two-year -olds in his care down at Sheepshead Bay, whose turf career Avill he watched with interest by horsemen next season. The interest is not alone" in the fact that trainer Pincus is in charge, but they will race in the colors of Mr. Cassatt. a son of the late A. J. Cassatt, who for years was one of the foremost turfmen in the country. New Orleans Work-Outs NEW ORLEANS WORK-OUTS. 1 2 Now 0rlcans December 10. Weather clear; track slow. Little Lighter ' Docile Page 6 Revenue Reaped from Bidding Up: Racing Associations' Considerable Gains from Selling Races-Principal Instances REVENUE REAPED FROM BIDDING UP. Racing Associations' Considerable Gains from Selling Races Principal Instances. The purpose of a selling race is to sell the winner to a new owner as soon as the race is officially decided. But not in one selling race in ten is there any sale. It has come to be the fashion among owners to abstain from bidding and in effect the selling race is now an owner's handicap, each man weighting his horse acordlng to his own fancy, expressed in the selling price he names in making his entry. When a winner is bid up it usually excites uncalled for resentment and leads to retaliatory bidding up. Fifty per cent, of the annual bidding up is from this revengeful heat. Some is for a legitimate desire to acquire possession of the winning horse, some from owners who want the half of the run-up money that falls to the second horse and the heaviest bidding up of all usually attends the winning of a race by a horse that all hands know has been entered far below his true value 'for betting purposes. While the bidding up is not what it should be, the real intent of selling races considered, it is still a source of considerable revenue to the various racing organizations. From the first of the year to the close of the Aqueduct meeting, there was a total of $127,950 in run-up money, of which one-half, or $G3,975 fell to the associations. In this minor source of revenue the California Jockey Club was the greatest beneficiary, gaining $11,150 from this source, its long drawn out meeting accounting for this feature. Brighton Beach with $8,S50 was seeoud, Ascot Park with $7,550 third and Graves-end with $0,425 fourth. The most considerable run-up was that of Gene Russell, when he was bid up $2,800 above his entered selling price at Brighton Beach. Next to his case the greatest raises were: Tilekilns, $2,000 at the Gravesend Second Spring Meeting; Keator $2,000 at the Belmont First Spring Meeting; Phil Finch $2,200 at the Latonia spring, meeting; Joe Nealon $2,000 at Brighton Beach; Arimo J?2,000 at the Gravesend autumn meeting; El Cazador $1,S00 at Ascot Park; Dead Gone $1,400 at the Gravesend First Spring Meeting; Marathon $1,S00 and Youthful $1,200 at the Jamaica spring meeting; Earl G. $2,000 and Golden West $2,000 at the Sheepsliead .Bay Summer Meeting; Jacobite $1,500, Lane Allen $1,700 and Lady Anne $1,500 at Brighton Beach. The one solitary run-up at Saratoga was Ocean Spray, $1,200. Uigarlighter, $800. was the highest run-up at Oakland and at New Orleans it was Ivanhoe $800 at City Park and Granada $700 at the Fair Grounds. Of the 233 horses run up, seventy changed hands, leaving 103 that were bid in by their owners. Of the so-called halter men. U. Z. De Annan and W. Walker were the most active, each acquiring four horses by the bidding up route. Roy Ott'utt, E. Wayland, W. Durker, C. C. McCafferty, P. M. Civill and Joe Marrone each bought two horses from selling races, these being all that run up and bought more than one, a statement that will surprise some people. The table below gives the number of run-ups, total for all meetings and the sum each association reaped within the time named and is in the nature of interesting information of a kind not often published: Run- Ass'n's Tracks.
