Offenders Barred At Jacksonville. OFFENDERS BARRED AT JACKSONVILLE. Jacksonville. Fla.. April 5. The Florida State Breeding Bureau received an addition today in the G. W. Johnson stallion. Jack McKcon. The latter won the breeders' purse, the conditions of which stipulated that tlie winner was to become the prop erty of the association, which in turn would donate tin bane to the breeding bureau The state has now three- stallions in their bureau — Clifton Forge. Kx iH-et t - Se-c- and Jack MeKeon. It is the purpose of rhe association to give these races quite frequently for the remainder of the meeting. Today's program was productive of good racing. \ majority of the races produced interesting contests and in two of them close finishes resulted. Favor MM, however, were liowled over with painful regu laritv. Chief Haves being the only winning choice of tin- afternoon. The latter was probably tin-heaviest backed horse that has gone to the post at the ine-eting. H - was backed from s to .-, to 3 to 5. and Hen in a canter after working his way up on the outside. There was a suspicious looking betting an^le to the rae-e. Cletsteresa, which opened a strong second choice, rece-ded to • to 1 at post time-. This mare has been one of the most inconsistent performers- at the raw: ing. She won MM first time out. then cann-back ami showed a poor performance and followed it up with a good one when she beat some of Holiest horses that have started at either Tampa or Jacksonville this winter. In today's race Cloister ess ran well for about thre-e furlongs and then quit, finishing last but one ami Iieoten off at the end. Her owner. L. C. Shobe. was called into the stand after the nice, and his explanation was evidently unsatisfactory to the officials, as a ruling was issued at the cone-lusion e»f the day's sport which ordered that entries from the Shobe stable be refused until the investigation of Cloisteress' race-s is concluded. Sliolx- displayed a ticket which showed that he hael wage-ri-d $100 on his mare at odds of .". to 1. but the money was bet In G. D. Bryan's liexiks. Tin-latter is the owner of Chief Haves, the horse- which won the race in whh-h Cloisteress was beaten off. so this did not improve matters anv for Shobe. Another ruling wa- handed out todav which practically brought banishment from the local track at least for P. S. Smith and If. Mie-hae-ls. Smith and Michaels have been mixed up all winter in the ownership of the two three-yearolds. Font and Eustae-ian. Tlie ruling of the judges says that after careful investigation they find that the horses run ning under Smith's name and also under Michaels' are umler the care of a man nameil Scott, who WPS refused all privile-ges by one of the eastern iockev club tracks for prae-tices prejudicial to the best in terests of the turf, and that, moresover, horses were run in the names of Smith and Michaels when in reality the latereaf were identie-al. although po ■PPM! of this fact had been filed with the secretary of the assoe-iatinii. Tlie judges ivi-ommeuded that all badges issued to both these stables be recalled their entries refused and that thev he denied th--privileges of training on the course and allowt-d a reasonable time to vac-ate their stalls. All of this practically means a suspension. Michaels is a New Yorker and for years ondueted the peanut stand privileges on the big metropolitan e-ourscs. while Smith has a trading stamp business in Havana. Racers Abandon Montgomery Park.
