newspapers are doing all in their to fan the excitement into a flame There are frequent predictions of civil war but there is no of such an outcome The cunserva tive citizens business men will not allow themselves to be worked up to such a pitch and the leaders and calamity howlers will not fight so all effect this talk is having is to keep business out of the state and make Kentucky the laughing stock of the nation President he take no hand in the matter Both sides have a socalled state guard composed entirely of men of their political parties These most of whom are mere boys are parading about in soldier clothes drawing pay which comes off the now overburdened taxpayer is greatly overdrawn in the sent out from Frankfort by win correspondents who receive so much colum for their rot The trouble drawn the attention of the entire nation and judging from the of foreign newspapers the population of the is looked upon as a set of cutthroats and assas sins If it were possible to corral a of leaders correspondents and fireeating partisans and make them fight it out the public at large would offer a hearty amen But such thing could not be done Those always howling fight are
