Hunt McMurtry the being conducted by Messrs Buck ner Alcorn and McQuown Heres Gospel Truth Our esteemed contemporary The Kentucky Advocate voices our senti ments exactly when it says It seems very funny for the leading merchants of a city to appeal through the for the people to trade at home and spend their money with the home stores and not send away to mail order houses or big city stores for their goods and at the same time when you go to pay a bill they will present you with a statement printed by an out of town corner or a cheap letter head gotten up by a wholesale house they deal with and given to them for the advertising Those who cry so loud and persistently should be dust to set the example To Entertain HomeComers Several of our more enterprising ladies and gentlemen met at the home of Mrs Jennie West Friday night and arranged for an entertainment to be given the Oarrard county people who will return to the old home next week A reception will be held on the lawn of Mrs dangerous condition of many wells which have not been cleaned out in years Lime he says should be mixed with stable manure as stable is the habitat of the housefly mans greatest enemy We trust that the hearty of the City Council the Health Board and Citizens of the town will cause a lack of disease in this town cleanliness is next to godliness The Record would publish all of the report of Dr of advertising in itscolunins Too often the men in a few lines of trade are about tile only ones that i reach out through the agency of their home paper after trade Other mcr chants wait until these men induce the people to come to town and content themselves with trade that naturally drifts to their place And right here want to sav that if we were to columns from week to week with advertisements from mail order houses the cities these same merchants whose names rarely if ever appear our advertising colums would be the first to raise a howl against discrimina i tion against home enterprise When the truth of the matter is we have gj been hammering away week after week and year after year in a endeav to attract our readers attention to I the inducements titTered them by our IE local merchants many of whom utterly disregard the merits of heir local pa per as an advertising medium through which to reach the public So why should they kick if merchantsabroad t seek to secure custom from those whose names are upon our mailing A public spirited man should ask hint self if he is doing his part to attraction people to come to town to trade and letting the public know just
