Association l t t r r r Lancaster Ky April 24 1908 The man who could give utterance to the following beautiful tribute to the most sacred of human passions may have been an infidel in thought but not at heart Ingersoll never said anything more beautiful when he said Love is the only bow on lifes cloud It shines upon the babe and sheds its radiance on the quiet tomb It is the mother of art inspirer of poet patriot and philosopher It is the air and light of every heart builder of every home kindler of every fire on earth It was the first to dream of immor tality It fills the world with melody for music is the voice of love Love is the magician the enchanter that changes worthless things to joy and makes right royal kings and queens of common clay It is the perfume of that wonderous flower the heart and without the sacred passion that divine swoon we are as beasts but with it earth is heaven and we are gods Safe and sane politics is what the country needs That system of politics that can see no harm in its particular party and no good in the opposition is neither safe nor sane In fact it is the opposite It might be well to keep in mind the fact that no man is good because of his political affilia tion There are good and bad men in all political parties It becomes the bounden duty of every one to vote a gainst an incompetent man or a graf ter no matter which party may have nominated him That anarchy has reached to dan ger point is evidenced from the fact that President Roosevelt insists that it is the duty of tile government to suppress it With this end in view all manner of incendiary literature is to be refused to the mails So far as enacting specific legislation against anarchy a most difficult task is at hand But it should not be such a big task to enact laws against those who incite to deeds of violence and to acts that seek to overthrow law and l order The rich women of New York are divorced so often that it is necessary to keep a sort of memorandum of the exhusbands in order that embarrasing complications may not arise It is re ported that a rich grass in Gotham receives a proposal she an answer until she consults her husband ledger to seeif it is one of her exspouses Dame Fashion is to be commended for eliminating the remains of birds from the hats of women Flowers are more becoming and certainly show a higher degree of civilization than that which sanctioned the innocent birds to gratify a depraved taste If some scientist would turn his to the spring fever microbe and discover something to counteract its effects he would be doing a mighty good thing for humanity and the fe low who is so busy doing nothing that he net find time to help with the house cleaning Reports have it that some one stole 820000000 worth of water from team is the best that has Lancaster in many years and should be encouraged by liberal patronage from all the people There is a prospect of Lancaster being in a new league composed of several towns in Central Kentucky Let encourage this proposition creating high class amusement lacking in our town at the present time Make Town Attractive Cleanliness is one of the essentials to That city is most healthful that pays strict attention to the question of everything in the best sanitary condition There is an organized effort to make Lancas a beautiful city One of the requisites to beauty is to have clean and attrac When is clean it ison a fair road to beauty Attrac tiveness has a commercial value Hens it is a good thing for business to have everything in a clean condition This will attract people to the city They will come and admire and come again and soon become constant visitors and in the end do their shopping in the city where surroundings are attractive The conclusions of the whole matter must be up and keep streets alleys and back yards In that condition To Make a Good Tonw The man who stands in the way of growth and advancement of the city is much like the fellow who killed the goose that laid the golden egg It takes men of broad ideas and liberal notions to advance the material of a community In planning a campaign for growth there will be many and conflicting opinions as to the best methods Wisdom suggests thnt there should be a spirt of a getting together on some common ground Anything short of this will mean failure That CleaningUp Day How about that general cleanup day Why not take a day off and and plant a tree or shrub or two and have a flower bed Nothing is more pleasing to the eye than flowers and vines The cost of producing them is so small that most any one can have at least a few about the yard and house Vines covering an unsightly back fence would be one way of adding beauty to the town Delays are dan gerous when it comes to seed planting better get busy at once Some Nice Days The weather man is getting down to the regular spring habit and is tbe individual who is enough to get out in the when things are at their best and get a whiff of real morning air Remember The Home Man An exchange has rightly sized up he situation when it says If you ast bread upon the waters it may eturn to you after many days but if cast your dollars into the mai mealstorm it never gets back to vicinity said a believer in pat onizing the home merchant Seeing s believing and when you see an before you buy it you are entitled M believe that it is worth buying it stay unbought if otherwise Thousands of men throughout thii country are bowling down the idea of centralization of government while at same time they are promoting the centralization of trade by spending money with the catalogue houses which are rapidly growing more and more powerful TO THE FARMERS Many companies have cancelled their policies on tobacco barns and human nature is to be observed when a man discovers something ex ceptionally good he wants all his friends and neighbors to share the benefits of his discovery This is the touch of nature that makes the whole world kin This explains why people who have been cured by Chamberlains Cough Remedy write letters to the manufacturers for publication that others similary ailing may also use it and obtain
