died March 22 1005 Was a son of Mr J 11 Welch living near Stanton whose whole family is well known and re spected through Powell county No small shock was felt by the community when it was anounc ed only away one weep Am glad to learn that your people are getting enthused with so much enterprise I see among other things you have a new highway bridge at Waltersville Now if you would only take hold of the good roads movement I would think Powell was coming to th front With all the good mate couldthave good roads with cost if you would only put your efforts together and say we are going to have them then you would soon have the world com fag your way We have good gravel roads here at a cost of 4000 per mile We have to have our gravel ship here and hauled onto the road where it is spread direct on the clay as we have no rock for bed ding It makes a fine road but it is protected during the thaw ing season by no heavy loads be ing allowed to pass over them Best regards to all the people
