Sash Store Improve the Roads Now The recent and dry days have dried up dirt roads most everywhere Now is the time they are needing some attention If our road would now spend a time in filling up the chug holes which have been cut out during the muddy season and smooth ingovur the road slightly we could have fine roads until the chugholesrain they will be filled with water and be a nuisance to be a mistake altogether though the report gained credence from presumably good authority That the company will build another saw mill to take the place of the one recently burned is no mis take but from what we can learn the size mill is yet undeter mined nor has it been fully decided to build a steel structure Must Pay Bonds According to the recent decis ion of the Supreme Court of the United States Estill county must pay 1150000 for coupons voted for the coustriution of the rail road through thatcountyin 1888 The road was not completed at the time the original contract called for and as a the transfer has certainly been made The consideration is hardly so large as heretofore claimed but a very handsome sum8i00000 Now that the deal for the land has been made it is presum ed that work on the new plant will soon begin The opening of this new industry in our county promises to make old Powell grow in wealth more than till other manufactories and Stanton will receive untold benefits In fact we predict that in the next twelve months Stanton will double its present size from a busi ness point of view Barn Burned Henderson Messer living near Furnace had his barn burned early Monday morning and two horses which were in the stable at the time were burned too Mr Messer telegraphed to Richmond for blood hounds and put them on a trail which has resulted in chargclwith The barn burned
