P J Altizer of Win chester is Secretary of the Convection Prevention of Typhoid Fever J N McCormick Secretary State Board of Health of Ken tucky has sent out circulars on the subject Prevention of Ty phoid Fever It has many warnings to the people of Ken tucky against the dread disease and if the people will take heed it is thought that much of this fatal disease can be prevented prompt action in districts where the disease usually occurs is urg ed The circular says in part This Board again feels it to be a duty to call the earnest at tention of our health authorities and people to the increasing prevalence and mortality from typhoid fever and to the conse quent growing importance of the constant use of the methods en dorsed and confirmed by scien tific research and observation for the prevention of the disease 13305 cases of this disease and 1579 deaths were reported in Kentucy last year chiefly con fined to people in the prim of life and usefulness The cost of caring for those sick of it to say nothing of the sorrow suffering and loss of life for the year is jTyphoidmost preventable of all diseases not even excepting smallpox It is now definitely known thatj like cholera and dysentery germs of the disease are contain frorqthesick of it and that it is necessary for a person to swallow some 4Y e of such discharges or things poi luted by them in some way in order to contract the disease They usually gain entrance to the system through infected wa ter from wells or streams drain ing inhabited areas and pollut ed by infected fecal matter or such matter may be carried by flies iilddposited no the food utensils and hands in un screened kitchens and dining rooms The germs may also be carried on the hands of careless attendants or on soiled clothing or indirectly by using milk or other articles of uncooked food or drink from cans and vessels washed in infected water Ice from infected water is also dan gerous as it has been proven that freezing does not kill the germ l Miss Kate Hutchison returned Saturday from a visit to relatives at Little Rock Ky- bows This We offer One Hundred Dollars Reward for any case of Catarrh that cannot be cured by
