the Public School System is founded on the principles that the intelligence and virtue of the people consti tutes the foundation of free gov isdare the sheet anchor and hope of prosperity which has character naI and admiration can not be given to the education of the rising generation The highest aspera tion of every true American lady or gentleman should be to bring about a deeper work in the edu cation of the American people and for that great purpose we representag place upon this school house the American Flag for we know there is no true American patron itsfas waves over building rippling in the sweet breezes without pride of conn landsocountry ments Who as ho sees it can think of a state merely and whose eyes once fastened upon its radiant trophies can fail to recognize the image of the whole nation It has been called a floating piece of poetry and yet I do not know of its having intrin sic beauty beyond other designs Its highest beauty is in what it symbolizes It is because it rep resents all that all gaze at it with delight and reverence it as a piece of bunting raised in air but it speaks sublimely and every part has a voice Its alter nate stripes of Red and White proclaim the original union of thirteen states to maintain the Declarationof Independence Its stars of white on a herd of blue proclaim the union of states con stituting the National Constella tion which receives a new star for every new state the two together signifying union past and present The very colors have a lan guage which was officially rec recognized by our Fathers White is the purity Red for val or and Blue for justice and all together bunting stripes stars and colors blazing in the sky make the Hug our country to be cherished by all our hearts to be upheld by all our hands and pro tected with all our strength The time has come when the pupils of dur public schools must be ttaught patriotism That means the love of country To whom shall we look but to the teachers of our free schools for the inculcation of these patriotic sentiments I wish to say that the trustees of the difFerentcoun ties of these United States cannot be too careful ire selecting tl IwL s1AA anr n much indeed It has all to do in shaping the policy of these Unit ed States and in making the needed progress of civilization and development of the American principles the educating of all classes of the people is the only and best means of promot ing the prosperity and progress of any country In and by the means of education the people learn to think independently and vote intelligently to legislate wisely therefore the very best of teachers should be selected and only those who are competent to teach the pure English language so the rising generation may be l THE WORLD come an English reading and I speaking people able to take their places in the ranks of our countrys workers educated in the needs and wants of the A merican people letting our mot to ever be America for Ame ica Too many mistakes have been made in selecting teachers who were incompetent to tench Education is the perfect devel opment of man body soul and spirit It develops andadorns his animal intellectual moral and spiritual nature It en thrones reason and brings ani malism of man into subjection to an enlightened conscience and a purified heart to achieve those in the great end and intention of true education Any of these overlooked or neglected must in the course of human events terminate unfortunately to the pu pil and patron Mr Chairman Ladies and Gentleman What is the object of this grand meeting today In answer to this question I will say that on the Oth day of March 3000 our State Councilor R D Harding instituted Red River Council No 12T Jr 0 U A M a patriotic and fraternalorder an order that believes in educat ing and the development of the American people and its officers and members are here today to put into practice the lesson taught in its councilchamber and to do honor to that great and glorious man George Washing ton the Father of our Country who first saw the light of day one hundred and seventy four years ago and who was called by God the Father from labor to reward one hundred and seven years ago and was buried at the foot of Mt Vernon but whose memory lives fresh in the of every true American toddy and it is our purpose to show our appreci ation for this wonderful man and that vearei ever ready to defend i 1 and uphold these noble principles given us by our ancestors I having for our emblem the stars and stripes and thatwe are not afraid or ashamed to hoist it high that when the bright rays of the morning sun kisses it us it waves proudly over the land of the free and the home of the brave no American heart Bali refuse to beat with patriotism as they gaze upon its stars and stripes waving proudly ever this school building And another grand and sublime object is toI show this people and all that fall among us that the Word of God is upon what this grand order the Jr O U A 11 is builded and presented to the teacher pupils and patrons a copy of the word of God the Holy Bible I We as Juniors believe in a Supreme Being We also believe that the Bible is a nonsectarian book containing the best code of morals ever revealed or discovered by man and we also believe from its literary theological moral and political excellence that it is of supernatural or di I vine origin In the unbounded universe of Gods domain there are manifold diversities and yet there is an essential unity that binds the whole together There is a common point where all matter unites and that point is centered in the Word of God find that word is found in the Bible GO books in number 1189 chapters 81175 verses 810097 words and 8500 480 letters It is not supply a good book in its day but is the book of all past time and allI time to come It is from GodI He is the Author It was He God who directed the pen of Thomas Jefferson to write the Declaration of Independence He who instilled in the hearts ofI the American people the love of lib rtyHe who sent Washing ton to lead the American Colo nists through the great and dark revolution to victory He whoI gave us our freedom Ho who caused the downfall of ungodly kingdoms and He who guides this nation to success Without the Bible we would know nothing of our origin or the origin of this world Every effort that has been made to account for the origin of the universe independ ent of revelation only proves the weakness and folly of Mans wisdom when left to its own re sources Darwinism Huxleyism and all such fine spun theories have been almost universally re jected as the wild vagaries and imaginations of misguided andI deluded brains No thinking man cognizant of the teachings tt of the Bible could ever for one 1moment be satisfied with the monad theory of matter or the Ijmonkey origin of man There is scarcely a man to be found tog lily who will risk his reputation before an intelligent world in ti standing for The Mistakes of Moses as written by Ingersell k against the wonderful and incom parable records of Moses It is easy enough for an uninspired p1anti ungodly mail to say that Moses vafc mistaken in this records concerning the creation of the heavens and tile Ot rthof man and of all that this World con tains but to show something in its place that will satisfy thought ispJ can criticise find tault with re pudiate and rashly condemn what Moses has said concerning the wonderful works of creation but the man has never yet been born that can show any other ac 3 count of the origin of the uni verse that will standtho ordeal that the account of Moses has withstood for more than three thousand years During all these years thousands of critics and in fidels have spent the energy of their lives in trying to refute Moses and have been long since forgotten as though they had never lived but the records of Moses stand as strong and im movable arid shine as bright today as on the day they emanated from that heaveninspired man There are more people on tho earth to day who believe and rejoice in the living records of Moses than ever stood upon earth at any time before The theories of such men as Voltire Hobert Owenandscores of others in the ages while they stirred up a lit tle sensation among a few friends thoroUghly names of these men are known only in the records of the past their theories were long since consigned to the moles and the bats When the name of In gersell shall have been forgotten and the Mistakes of Moses shall have been consigned to ob livion there will still be millions- of people on this earth that will still be rejoicing over the divine records of MosesC- ONTINUED NEXT WB5K Deafness Cannot be Cured
