A singular fact in the Senatorial race in the recent primary is that Beckham carried every Re publican district inthe State ex cept this district which embraces Estill the county where Sean tor McOreary was raised while McOreary carried fifty of the eightythree Democratic district The Democratic party law pro vides that the partys candidate for Senator shall be named in the Democratic Legislative cau cus and if in this caucus the Legislators should rellect the sentiment of the party in their districts McOreary would certainly be the legal nominee Ve learn that a claim for the nominantion may be made bused on a strict ndhereance to the let ter of the parry law and in this event McOreary will easily be f constitutional nominee It nowseemsthat Beckhnms vie tory may yet be1 to hiin as a wolf in sheeps wool The defeat of Congressman Hopkins demonstrates the integ- rity+ purtyIEvery knew how un fairly hopkins secured the nom ination nnd so 8000 of time party refused to vote for him and let the Republicans outnumber them on this occasion Had these Dem ocrats have been as well acquainted with Langleys short comings us they were with Hop kins the district would not have the way it did The majority might however have been de creased for many Democrats prefer the Republicans furnish ing allof the corrupt oflicials Hopkins is a good Congressman and nothing can be said against him except the manner in which he secured the nomination While it is a fact that business in Clay City is far from being on a drag and agricultural interests about the city are active we must not be content in so well doing but wo must stride for things better Such an opportunity was never offered our people as we learn will be up to them in a few days We refer to the establishment of a large canning factory It will bo to everybodys interest to have the canning factory From what wp can learn of thGproject proposition will soon be sub mitted to our people which will at once insure this industry for Clay City if our people will only do their part Let every citizen loud a helping hand and in this way make the load light and in sure for us an establishment Which will be of more real value to all of us than every other manufacturingplant now operat ing in this city Now for a canning factory e f Wl Il u j Estjll county is the only county in tills Congressioniil district to give Hopkins an increased vote This is Jurgely dime to the untiring efforts rf exiOongress man J B White and time still herald of wliicli the son of Mr White is publisher Such party loyalty in the face of de feat in the convention at Pike villa by Mr Hopkins makes Mr White the most logical Democrat ic candidate in the district two years hence d A primary ectionwould have been the best Way this year for Democrats to have nominated u candidate for Congress and we expect Hopkins had rather have been defeated by a Democrat in a primary than a Republican in the general election The result of Tuesdays election convinces us that we Democrats must get artistic on to win ill time State election next fall so every member of the party must at once get in line For Sale A good heating stove
