Sam Curtis in Montgomery county Amendment to Constitution Few people are fimiliar with the act that was passed by the last Legislature which provides for an amendment to the Consti tution to bo voted for tit the next general election It will be submitted to the people as an excellent remedy for the erstwhile voter if it becomes law There will either be more taxes collect ed or fewer votes polled If the amendment is adopted every person who wants to vote here after will do well to ascertain wheather or not all of his last years taxes have been paid and if not they must be paid and if not they must be paid at least sixty days before the election If a voter owes State county city or school district taxes for the year proceeding the one in which the election is held he will not be allowed to vote This is the law and it would cut quite a fie ure if it was now in effect If the officers do not comply with the law and allow delinquent tax payers to vote they open away for contest of the election As elections held under such con ditions would be probably declar ed void for it surely would be illegal The best thing under the circumstances for those who want to vote if the amendment car ries will be to see that all taxes are paid before going to the I pftlls This applies to everybody rich or poor black or white Dem ocrat or Republican Danville I Advocate Lafayette Phillips keeper of
