three hundred three stores one blacksmith shop and a com mon graded school but now has eight stores bank canning facto ry and a High School of four teachers and not an empty house in its incorporate limits and a population of about six hun dred In a short time work will begin on the Stanton College a magnificent brick structure to cost20000thishouseto be built on ten acres of beautiful rolling land donated by J 0 Patrick for that purpose which land ad joins the lots to be sold on the east And further east about onefourth of a mile lies the Pat rick Portland Oement in quanti ties untold finished old town into a modern little city Digs up Old Grape Shot Last week while digging pars nips in the garden James Barker dug up a grape shot which weighs twelve ounces and shows that some of important part were made at the old forge in this city Grape shot we learn was also made here It is quite probable that this grape shot dug up by Mr Barker was made at the forge here at about that time 1812 and was possibly taken by some one of the old citizens as a relic Mr Barker prizes his find very highly and no doubt will find some one willing to pay him a good price for his rare prop erty during the past sum mer will be brought to Louisville where it will be open for two weeks It is being brought to the State by the Kentucky Anti Tuberculosis Association which hopes through its educa tional influence to awaken over the State a greater interest in the fight against tuberculosis and to impress upon the people in every county including our own that there is a great opportunity and a
