advance Publisher To Organize Booster Clubs Rush 0 Watkins chairman of the State organizations commit tee of the Commercial Club is vigorously pushing a plan to make Kentucky the banner State us fur as commercial organizations similar to the one in Lou isville is concerned The project means the establishment of a Commercial Olub in every secon dary city in the State which so far has no organization to look after its welfare and boom its in terestsAlready Kentuckys commercial organizations rank high both as regards number and impor tance If the plan which Mr Watkins is back of comes to a successfulculmination there will hardly be a town of any Impor tance in the State which is with out a organization of some kind Towns without com mercial organizations are Paris Dayton Bellevue such club to work there is but little else to do President Fromans Address President Froman of the Ken tucky State Farmers Institute now in session at Frankfort in his opening address said the State Farmers Institute had been a success and had done much to ad vance the work of agriculture meant the success and prosperity of the people He said the farms have become depleted by cultiva tion until it is now necessary to have scientific farming so as to got the best results Careful at tention to detail he said was one of the most important things on a farm and upon good order depended success To sell at a price above the cost of production is the key to success for the farmer said Mr Froman The manufacturer has this right and the farmer has the same right and tQ control the market production must be controlled A surplus is a loss and it is better not to produce than to sell at a loss The great mistake the farmer makes is to putout immense acreage of any crop which is selling at a high price The best way to fix this price is to produce to meet the demand and by organizing branches of the American Socie ty of Equity The farmer should keep a set of books just like any other business man He can tell I then what the price will have to be to give him a profit Mr Froman urged that all farmers should organize He said the farmers must be loyal to each other and forego temporary self gain in order to further the com mon good They wanted some plan by which the farmer can control the price of the farm products calling attention to the enormous value of farm products He showed that the wealth of the country is based on the farm product but that the wealthy people are not the farmers and the farmers do not live in the comfortable homes that they should The immense sums spent in Europe each year by the rich people pf this country was shown by Mr Froman and he said this meant that the farmers have a great problem to solve He said it must be done according to law and by lawful methods He urg ed that organization would give the farmer power to curb the trusts and regulate the corpora tions so as to help the interests of the people Mr and Mrs John Burgher of Kings Mills Ohio
