action of the Democratic party That Jackson Federal Court The Republican party in the Tenth Congressional district takes much honor uuto itself and bestows much praise upon John W Langley our Republican Congressman for the establish ment of a Federal court at Jack son It does seem that Langley is an unusually slick creature The people off this part of the district do not know what it is to be beaten outof their homes that they have improved bought and paid for but in Breathitt and nearly all the mountain counties the land owners are being mo lested daily by Easterncapital ists who have dug up what they call old land grants and are en deavoring to swiuale the natives out of their possessions They hav6 brought s t in many cases in the Oircuit courts of their dis tricts and these cases have gone to the courtof Appeals and all been decided in favor of the oc cupier of the land basing the claim that fifteen years peaceable possession makes a clear title o ven though it was sincerely beginningLangley by many of these people worked in the interest of the capitalists in getting the Federal court at Jack son so thqy could be sued there in the Federal courb instead of the State con rt and under some interstate technical point beat the citizens outof their land the homes which they and their an cestryhadspent all they could earn toimprove Thus you see Langley in getting the Federal court for Jackson was working in the interest of the holders of the land patents and not really in the interest of the masses of the peo pIeMany of ithe people of Breatli itt and other counties concerned are just now fin of the club Langley has furnished the enemy and it is claimed they are up in open arms against the schemer who has posed as the friend and that Floyd Byrd will beat Langley Congressman Reward for a Reason TJvq Republican Congressional Committee offers a reward of 1150 00 for the best article not exceeding 1000 words giving a reason Why the Republican PitHy Should be Successful Next November sllpreltended toincreaso its reward as few shrewd writers will write upon false subjects these days unless the compensation nina up close to the thousand mark and none but a very shrewd writer could possibly manufacture an appar ent reason for such a thing If the Federal office holders cannot find a reason Why the Rppbulicah Party Should be Sue cessful Next November the case is gone anyway Not that these offce holders embrace the best imaginary reasoning talent but they have so muchat stake The only reason why they shouldrestrict the artilco to 1000 words seems to be that that is the limit of understanding with the majority of the party in some sections of the southern half of the country The Democrats at Stanton Sat urday made a wise selection in picking the County Committee A better selection in fact could not have been made for any of the positions than was made J H ORear of this city who was made chairman is a hustler in politics and when the time
