bluegrass seed crop this year is reported short from one third to onehalf The price therefore promises to be high a gain When so much can be re alized for an acre of seed and the grazing following so Situation ExChief Justice Ed 0 OKear in a public speech a year agotold Governor Willson there were laws enough on the Kentucky statutes if properly executed to put the American tobacco trust out of business in Kentucky and that done the pooling of tobacco to get fair prices would be unneses sary and all night riding in the State would suddenly cease But Willson seems to have been a friend to the trust rather than the people and allowed the tobacco trust go without any I prosecution whatever and dis tributed soldiers in many parts of the State where no disturbance had ever occurred but always in a section where farmers had pool ed their tobacco in an honest en deavor to get what it was worth and in this way gobbled up100 030 of the peoples money with out giving one cents value to them in return What it was worth to his Client theAmericari Tobacco Company we do not knowSenator Bradley in a speech at Washington last week favor ing the removal of the six cents per pound tax on tobacco in riding in Kentucky The Times is delighted to JBCQ our Republican Senator taking a stand for his people against the big corporation The bill how ever will not pass because it is in the interest of the people while this government as it is now administered is for the mon eyed classes who foster it and controlls all national legislation in their favor There is but one question to this tariff proposition are you for the largo majority of people in meager circumstance or are you for the high collared rich roll ing in wealth sin and vice The manufactories the Unit ed States can manufacture and sell all lines of goods and pay the present price for labor and make big dividends every year They are now competing in foreign countries with all leading manu facturing countries of the world and more than hold their own in every instance These manufacturers have formed what tdreycall trusts and behind the high tariff wall they charge Americans 50 per cent more for the goods they use than they charge foreigners Thats Republicanism as practiced We are for tearing down every inch of that tariff wall and the gov ernment getting its running ex penses from an income tax levi ed on all persons and corporations earning more than 1000 profits A tax of 2 on the prof its of over 1000 per year can be much more easily borne than by the common people as it is today Thatis tthekiridof Democracy
