it is possible to vxrget in this market The hotel has been thoroughly ren ovated and cleaned and newly furnished now presenting at least an inward appearance of amore pleasing hotel than Clay City might be expected to afford The traveling public will certain ly make no mistake and will surely not be disappointed by the stopping at the New Central Hotel when in Clay City More of our farmers are plant ing cow peas this year than ever before Nothing yields such an enormous crop of hay of the fin est quality besides being such a great soil improver If our farmers would plahtYnore peas and less S 1 1t 111 r I0 I TALKING UP A GOOD THING IWe are not opposed to the building of a new railroad or trol ly line to this city and only re gret that we have not the cash to contribute to such an enterprise Before a railroad can be built we must first Jinda man with money to back the enterprise and be able to show him that it is a good thing Now let the merchants of this city get themselves together and undertake an enterprise that they can handle What we are in need of are a few more good roads towards the mountains For instance if we would get to gether and build nine miles of good road from the Levee to Clay Ciay then we could create an avenue to let the people in The building of the L E road lost us much of the trade of Pow ell and Estill Why Because the people of those communities could not get to this city nine months in a year Build a good turnpike road and they will come every day We feel sure that our neighbors would readily co operate with us in this enter priseMt Sterling Gazette Tine Sounds good to us and the Times for one is anxious and ready to aid the project We may not be able to meet you Mt Sterling half way but wo will dosomethfgrybeanusa tY ate drinking whiskey is a bnd practice but it is a shame to see how cunning so many minors tire furnished liquor and the of fenders of the Jaw go unpunished A number of cases of this kind have engaged the attention of Circuit Court this week On these trials it developed that any boy with the money can get li quor through some older friond and it is a shame that so many of the young men who furnish these boys their liquor go unpun ished through a dodge of the law 1d in many instances it teems to be a case of false swearing to escape punishment The officers of the law should look after this complaint more dilligently and if the law could only be enforced in onehalf of the cases the practice of boys getting drunk would be greatly handicaped By all means let us try to save the boys from this evil until they can reach their majority a News news news 1 Itsenough to give a man the blues This week nobody married everybody snid nobody broken an arm or head nobody come in to talkof the
