our county aflairs when practical and consistent I am for every one having accord ing to law their share of whats honest fair tad square It has been said that the county is enormously in debt If the reins of the county affairs should fall into my hands as far as it is in my power I will guide judiciously and try to help get it out If nominated I appeal to the tax payers and thinking men of the county for their support Jl W Garrett Mr Iv W Gajrett in this issue announces himself a candi date for the Republican nomina tion for County Judge Mr Gar rett has been a prospective cnn didate for larg pst producers but the greatest consumers ot any other class or occupation In view of this fact their interests are snore affected by unreasonable freight rates of transportation companies and extortionate charges of trusts than tiny others All other classes are organized and look after their interests on this line Why should not the farmers do likewise Every law regulating rates and every de cision of the courts setting these laws aside or practically nullify ing them is of vital interest to the farmer The question of getting his pro duce tp market ian important one He ought to have some thing to sav whether lie shall turn his profits over to tho trans portation companies or not There are plenty of instances where the difference between a reasonable rate of freight and the existing rate is enough to more than wipe out time farmers profits This of course is con fiscation and unconstitutional but I have never seen Federal Judges running over eachother to embrace the opportunity to say so With them the shoe is too often on the other foot The Dred Scott decision hud almost as much to do with free jug tho slaves as did Lincolns proclamation It aroused the public conscience and disclosed the real purpose of the alavehold ers It made the election of Lin coln possible The decisions of Judges Anderson und McPherson are likely to have a similar ef fect and arouse the people to ac tion that will make it hard sled ding for the criminal corpora tions Peary last the lasopenesivarmDrCoolc claim he had reached the coveted spot We dont care a thing for the war butt
