some capi till still being made out of the Alleged Billy Bowen trade I will hero explain how that was and the people can judge for themselves I had all the polit ieal brains and wealth of the Republican party of the county ar raigned against me I didnt consider that I was under obli i gations to any one until I was nominated The Democrats in different ports of the county was helping me get men there to beat i Hardwick I told Billy Bowen if ho would help me pay the railroad fare for the men we could get a good many more to go and that as it was contend ed that Hall said he would not run unless Hardwick run and if Hardwick was beaten Hall wculd not run and that would be the cheapest office he would over get and that it would prob n bly cost us 50 apiece He said it would injure him and so that proposition was dropped Now I understand that some are saying that killed mewith my party You can not kill a dead man I heard from good authority that I was politically assassinated in the committee room over the bank that nforning and that every thing was fixed before they went down to the convention They pretended to resurrect me but they thought they had too good a to lose and the man for County Judge he thinks will do the not for the countyLets see we can judge stone thing of what Mr Daniel will do for the county by what he did for Clay City while Mayor I When Mr Daniel was elected and installed as Mayor he found the need of a bridge to furnish an outlet and inlet for trade Let us say right here that D R Daniel was largely responsible for the first bridge in the county and the only bridge that every cent of the cost is paid and this was paid while he was in office Notwithstanding the fact that during two years of his olfice the city was under local option there fore got ho license money and at the same time the taxable property had decreased until the funds from every available Hource was not much over one fourth what they were when he I Iof STANTON v tray inducted into office Mr Daniel held the reins and said all the while thou he was going to see that the bridge was paid fo before he went oufof olllce and he did and left to his successor over 900 in the treasury Hov does this meet the charges madt against hurt He did not stop at this but put up 25 cash of his own money for the Waltorsville bridge and ollered to give 200 for another bridge between this city and the county seat Has his opponent done so much for his county Somt say Mr Daniel does not know loot to attend to business as he should The above facts contradict such statements And again he has so managed his af fairs as to have in his possession even now far more taxable property than his pponent He in fact pays more than four times as much tax as his opponent pays individually We would prefer not mentioning auch subjects as this as it is not considered by us a test of qualification for the of fice but the other bide hits ad vanced the issue There is not a man in the county who would du more fur the advancement of the county tthau3ii R Daniel trod he will certainly we believe have the opportunity for doing tins gaud as CountyJudge the next lour yelps
