the Rev R A Irvin whose death notice was briefly mentioned last week was conducted at the Stanton Presby terian church Saturday morning by Dr R A McOqnauha of the Stanton College and the remains were laid to rest in the Stanton cemetery The floral decorations were real beautiful and rare A Inrge number of people attended the exercises Bro Irvin was born in Fay otte county in 1835 and was there with him Gov John Young Brown and Col W 0 P Breck inridge He is survived by Mrs Irvin and two sons the Rev Lo gan Irvin of Americus Ga and 1 Dr R A Irvin of this city There is no language at our command by which we can fit tingly portray the sincerity of Bro Irvins Christian character nnd in the experience of twenty years the writer hereof can safely say he never met one who seemed to more nearly walk hand in hand with God Conscience guided every act He was a model of mental industry in his opterttnndiustruotpwas honest in the service he render ed In short he was not only a model Christian but he was an honorable gentleman in the highest sense that term implies To than woman or child saint or sinner hfe always extended a cordial greeting that lent a ray of light to brighten their pathway in the journey of life He commanded the respect of all sects and clnsccs of people as the attendance at his funeral ful sy verified It was so perfectly c V- k tWe are here to help CUyCityiH SorronndiDg Country and Ourselves CLAY CITY EY THURSDAY NOVEMBER 4 1909 natural for him to do right We did not fully appreciate his true worth until after the thread of life was severedBut as we caught a glimpse of the snow white sail that bore him away to the distant shore we awakened to the realization that good and righteous man had been taken from our midst The floral offerings surpassed in profusion and beauty anything ever seen here before A floral pail composed of white flowers was gift from friends On card appended could appro priately have been placed these words These flowers typ cal of the life of him we mourn mutely speak the pathos of parting word and are place up on this casket by friends who loved the sweet sleeper On these petals are tearsfor the part ing and
