way then another All men are created qual but all men have not an equal showing A farmer it matters not how shrewd a busi ness nan he may be cannot in a lifetime accumulate a million dollars At the same time this Government tolerates one man to control a corneron wheat that the farmer raises and make a million dollars in a week specu lating It tolerates trusts to control the oil business and make millions a year Not only the oil business but it tolerates the middle man dealing in all agri cultural products to make as much profit on what the farmer produces and the farmer gets for the production of the products of all the soil This is hot right yet it is tolerated In thiscountryIltieTirianinay invest five thousand dollars in an automobile have every luxu ryat home possible with number less servants at his command spend the hot weather on a trip to Europe which all toll may cost him a million dollars when it gets too cold here goes to Los Angeles Oalifornia where he has a million dollar palace pro vided for his comfort and if the high price of living is mehtioned to him he will tell you Oh well the people of this country are too extravigant certain peo pie can live on a great deal less if they would They can take a dollar and buy them a bushel of meal another dollar and buy them a bushel of potatoes and another dollar invested during time week in meat and this can he made a sustenance for a fami Iv of six for a week or ten days by economizing as they should The wealthy made rich by the laboring people of our land have less regards for them that made them rich than the poor have for a dog of their own American nabobs spend 200 000000 a year in Europe and A merican heiresses sell themselves in marriage to scapegoats of the titled nobility of Europeshow jug the vanity of even those rais 1 ed under American Influence and their cravings for the empty baubles of royalty Rich wuineji of our cities spend more money on servants and pet dogs than it would take sourcesExSecretary of the Treasury Leslie M Shaw said in a speech at the Chicago university H When our manufactories grow bigger than the United States then there will be war the bloodiest war in the history of mankind uThe tine itf coming when the manufactories will outgrow the country mid men by the hun dreds of thousands will be turn ed out of the factories That of itself is not so bad but when we realize that we pay out in wages as muchas the rest of the world together we begin to see the ser iousness of the situation Tho factories are multiplying faster than our trade and we will shortly have a surplus withno one abroad to buy and with no one at home to absorb it because the laborer has not been paid e nough to buy back what he cre ated What will happen then Why all these mien will be turn ed out of the factories They will find themselves without food Then will come the great danger to the country for these men will be hard men to deal with And all of these conditions have been nurtered and aided into existence by the Republican party which I is stijl protecting and encouraging them How much longer w ill the people up Bold them with their votes 1 The Tenth District The Lexington Herald has the following in regard to the political situation in this district The race for Congress in the Tenth District this fall will be a warm one and the Democrats are going after the Republican nominee without gloves Whether Congressman Langley will he a candidate to succeed himself it is not yet certain but he is mitt nearly as strong as he was years ago How Langley has made enemies He has ignored Republicans and county organizations in many counties it is claimed and has lost many supporters If he is not a candidate it is said that Circuit Judge Kirk of Johnson District will be a candidate and that James Wallace of Irvine nay also enter the contest The Democrats are preparing to take advantage of what they term a split in the Republican ranks and are looking around for a strong candidate Several gentlemen ire mentioned but the name most frequently heard in con lection with the Democratic nomination is that of lion John M Stevenson a prominent and wealthy lawyer
