PIj o V ViiCal- x S x x Byrd at Sandy Hook At an earlv hour Monday the streets of Sandy Hook were filled with throngs of the hardy honest sons of Elliott county all anx iously awaiting the arrival of Hon A F Byrd who is to lead them to a glorious Democratic victory in November At a few minutes untill two oclock soon after his arrival at the court house yard he began his masterful address His large and enthusiastic audience was wellrepaid for their long wait i for one hour and forty five min utes he held the assembly spellbound by his eloquence such as is rarely heard in Sandy Hook and which far surpasses that of his arrogant opponent John W Langley I beg your pardon Mr Byrd for using his name in the same sentence with yours From the beginning to the end of this oration Langley was pierced by the pointed darts of irony which were cast with un ering aim told precision by hu merciless tormentor This free quently brought storms of ap plause from his auditors who greatly enjoyed watching the different colors which rapidly chased each other over the face of the enraged Langley as he set quiviring like a whipped cur at his masters feet Bit by bit Langleys mask was torn to shreds and he stood reo l to his og often de ice ectoffraidialeofhonestyAfter with pleasure to this flood of eloquence the audience more sorrowful than angyr gave the notorious stand patter a chance to vindicate him self and repudiate the serious but true charges made by Mr Byrd This he attempted by heaping vituperation and oppro brium upon Mr Byrd who stood calmly by listening to the pea cock vainly trying to recover lost ground But the Langley who is usually so hilarious was glad to seek seclusion when he found that he was unable to make his hearers see the point It is safe to say the intelligent voters of Klliott county will have no more of this traitorous tool of Cannon and Aldrich Senator Bradley is out speak tug for Langley He was over at Pikeville Tuesday Byrd was there too and asked a division of time with Bradley This Bradley refused to give Byrd spoke there the next day and tore things all to peices for the Re publicans While Langley car ried Pike two years ago by 1400 votes it is claimed the county will go for By rd this time Byrd has the facts to back his argu Governor Willson and hiss ec retary Oapt Jackson Morris will tour the Tenth district and speak for Langley in an
