Eclipses His Own Record That the circus possesses charms of unrivaled potency is again manifested by the lively interest taken by our citizens generally in the coming of S H Barretts New United Monster Shows which ex- ¬ hibit here on Tuesday May loth The general opinion is that Mana ¬ ger Barrett will produce some de- ¬ cided novelties and the indica tions are that the exhibition will attract a class of people who rarely attend an entertainment of this style Barrett it is said presents a more diversified and novel circus performance than any of his Acts are given contemporaries simultaneous in three rings and on a large central stage by a corps of two hundred performers including many of the noted bare- ¬ back rideis acrobats aerialists boxers vaulters wrestlers and swordsmen of both this country and Europe Some of the most sensational features are the per formances of Donald McKcnzies combination of Scotch athletes sixteen in number who appear in thrilling broadsword combats on horseback Caledonian sports and classic Olympian games the start ling athletic and equestrian feats of Nubar Hassan s Arabs and the marvelous jugglery wire walking and acrobatic exploits of the Royal Yeddo Japanese artists There will be a brilliant revival of Roman hippodromatic cotests and stirring illustrations of wild life on the plains The circus proper ought surely to
