Ever Before The inauguration of Governor John Young Brown took place on Tuesday and was witnessed by the largest crowd which has ever been in this city upon a similar occasion The people began to arrive Monday evening and continued coming until 1030 oclock Tuesday morning and when the procession began to move the streets and the State House yard were filled with people the assem Â¬ blage being second only in number to that which was here on Centenni- Â¬ al day October G 1SS6 The business houses and public buildings were beautifully decorated with flags and bunting and a large stand was eiscted in the State House yard which was ornamented with garlands of cedar and flowers and covered by a beautiful canopy of bunting and streamers At the appointed time the procession began forming with Chief Mar Â¬ Â¬ W Lindsey and his W H Sneed Col Wickliffe Chapman and Col W S Dehoney in the saddle and actively at work The first division formed on Main street with the right resting on Ann and the second and third di- Â¬ visions in the order named were conveniently formed on Broadway with their right on Ann ready to move The assembled hosts were a pretty and magnificent sight At 11 oclock the cannon on Fort Hill boomed a signal It was for the procession to start With the can- Â¬ nons report the first division moved east on Main to High and north on High to the Governors Mansion where they drew up and received the Governor and Governor elect with the Escort Committee on horseback and in carriages The second and third divisions uncovered by the first following in line and from the mansion the whole moved through the principal streets of both the North and South sides amid the boom- Â¬ ing of cannon and the enthusiastic cheering of the thronged crowds of men women and children who lined every sidewalk and crowded the roofs and windows of the gaily deco- Â¬ rated houses Some idea of the make- Â¬ up and appearance of the parade can be formed from the order of the pro- Â¬ cession First came a detachment of police Chief Marshal Lindsey and the Unit- Â¬ ed States Marino Band followed by Deputy Marshal Col W H Sneed in command of the first division the latter comprising
