1893 President Lewis and all the members of the council were present at the meeting on Friday evening of last week except Coun- The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved The petition of Mrs Nannie R Duvall asking a rebate of 500 on the assessment of her St Clair street property for 1893 was granted The resolution in relation to sidewalks on Wilkinson street from Mero to Hill street had its second reading and was passed a second time President Lewis offered a resolution instructing Mayor Tobin to have an arc electric light placed on each side of the river to give y light for the ferry Adopted President Lewis presented a statement to the effect that there was ah error in the official vote as certified to the Council by the County Clerk in that the vote cast for Mr J W Pruett in the second ward was given as 179 when it should have been 197 and that said error was overlooked by the Council when sitting as a contestingboard causing them to declare Mr Chas J Weitzel elected as Councilman from the third ward when had the error been corrected Ir Pruett would have been shown to be entitled to the office that the Council would gladly reassemble as said contesting board correct the error they had unintentionally fallen into and declare Mr Pruett elected but having met performed the duty for which they were called together and adjourned they were functus and powerless to act further on the matter The statement was ordered entered upon the minutes The bond of Mr Lillis for the Faithful performance of his contract for putting down crossings on the South Side was presented as ordered and approved The matter of keeping the hook v and ladder wagon on the South Side during the time the bridge was being torn away was brought up and discussed and the matter m postponed until to morrow night Dr George Chinn the City Physician appeared before the council and explained that it would be necessary to make an ap- propriation to make the vaccina and tion
