Story of tho Encount or With a Ghost Told by an Eyo Witness APPALLING TO NIQHUORHOOD- Narrows Ky Dec 3 1900 Two mlfclievlons characters popu- oluly known as the Twin Devils arc having a great deal of fun at the expense of tbe good people of this community The Twin Devils have been frequently seen by nocturnal travelers sometimes appearing as tw old men ntid again as young men and sometimes us one old and one young man They have undoubtly a number of makeUps Some weeks ago Tom Barrett John Will Hurt and Mac Daniel were teturning from Oweusboro where they had gone with their tobacco and when nearly home and while crossing a dark and lonely hollow at or near mid night Mr Bauett who was driving in front of the others was struck dumb n ith terror at the sight of a lidless coffin In which reposed a corp prepared for burial At each corner of the coffin burned the remnant ol a cIndie and the two pall bearers look ed grim and ghoctly in the shadowy light of the flickering candles Mr Barrett uttered a yell akin to the wail ol n lost toul nail madly lashed his horses and they responded with the speed 01 the wind The candles went rut when Barrett creamed and unit and Daniel were spared the ghostly spectacle but the unearthly scieam and the lightning speed of their companion warned them that something unusual had happened and they slatted In rapid pursuit and the roar of the
