discuction of the work ahead ot the commission the plan and scope of the work the selection of a site and the distinctive features of the exposition Different members of the local organization tere pres ent at different times Gov Dockery and Mr W H Thompson being among others who hated in the dis cussion In a general way the question of a kite was considered at length While it will be In order for the local organization to take the initiative in this matter the commission will be the final arbiters and they are giving much thought to the subject It wan admitted that no site that could be selected will give satisfaction to everyone concerned and that there will doubtless be some displeasure ex pressed no matter what their decision may he For this reason it was thought best to get the matter out of the way as soon as possible and it may be expected that the low tion of the exposition will be among the first things disposed ot both by the local organization and the na tional commission The opinion prevailed also that in respect to the general scope of the Fair too much attention be gtven to mechanical and clectrlcar I displays though these should have tbe proper amount of attention t- lit was thought a better plan to more attention to ethnological than any Worlds Pair has previously done An exhibition of all the tribes of American Indians was suggested as well as representa tives of all partially unknown peo plea The races in thr Philippines including the Sultan of Snln and his subjects were thought to be the kind of material which would attract most attention Other questions of like character were included lu the dis cnbsion The meeting adjourned shortly before 6 oclock without an nouncing any definite program to be followed up tbe next meeting to be
