control of the hot springs by the U S Government is ab solute and is endorsed by government medical board for the treatment of cer tain ailments unequivocally After due investigation congress took possession ofr the springs in 1832 and retained urnindI then n reservation ample to protect them from all encroachments The act fets forth the value of tho waters to the Ihu nun race and its denim to control them wits to prevent a monopoly of such a blessing by individuals Tho government scheme of improve went at Hot Springs Jilts been going on for years The income from the water and other rentals the sale of city Iota which it reserved vital it took possession of the jprinus lists till been spent on the reservation until now it is ono of the most beautiful spots belonging to Uncle Sam The arching and covering of Hot Springs creek for over one mile through the center of the city was the tint work done by the government The building of tho army and ncvy hospital soon fol lowed It is one of the most beautifulI groups of buildings on the southeast cor ner of Hot Springs mountain and is one of the finest in the world of its kind The most important improvement made by till uovcrnmcnt is the system of driveways and walks on the three mountains comprising the reservation These were begun about seven years ago and are now completed In nil the drives cover iibout 12 miles in length and now cover every point of the lint Springo moun mina and North and West mountains The most beautiful sight to my eye It the work at the foot of Hot Springs mountain the east stile of Central avri nue the principal thoroughfare of the city Some of the bath houses are situ ated nn this point which is known a bath house row Along the point is n broad concrete promenade with sic drubs and shade trees on either side Hack In the foliage are tho bath houses und between them at intervals are stone stairways lending up the mountain Hot Springs water opens the pores andt channels for the expulsion of matter in jurious to health stimulates the circula tion the muscles the skin the nerves the Internal organs and purifies the blood removes all aches and pains restores the exhausted and renews the en
