On Tuesday Bamberger, Bloom & Co. packed 50 cases of heavy prints on the second floor and the presumption is that this heavy consignment caused the floor, which was already overweighted, to give way, forcing out the front walls and causing the entire building to fall in. The stove in the front pan of the house set fire to the cotton, and in twenty minutes after the first crash the place was in a mass of raging flames.
