The citizens, visitors ami strangers litre yesterday gave themselves up to the one task of celebrating the inconxratlcin of ,,ie citv iwo hundred years ago. Small canntai were fired at frequent intervals, sad were lighted in many of the wide streets. Thousands of persons remained up all night, and in the morning were as ready to start In on the celebration as though they bad had a good tlight's rest The firstimportant event of the morning was the arrival of Fies;dent Cleveland. The Burgess Corps marched to the West Shore deimt and awaited the coming of the train. The Burgess Coips then took up the line of march, and the Presidential party were driven to the Governor's mansion. The President, Secretaries Bayard and Whitney and Colonel Lamont, escorted by Mayor Thatcher and tho members of the Anniversary Reception Committee, left the Executive Mansion at 10:30 o'clock and entering carriages were driven down to take their places in the procession. Governor Hill, escorted by members of the reception committee, followed a few minutes later. The order to march was not eiven until eleven o'clock, although ten o'clock was the hour fixed for the head of the procession to move. Major General George S. Trcadwell, commanded the Second Division. It comprised a number of G. A. Ii. jwsts from various cities of the States. The First Hegiment and Tibbett's Veteran Association, of Troy. The Tiiird Division was commanded by of General Kobcrt S. Oliver. Troy, Yonkers. Mount Yeinon, Kingston, Ponghfceepsle, Catskill, Hudson. Whitehall and Schenectady were represented by detachments of troops in this d' vision. The Fiist Hegiment of Philadelphia, also marched in this division. The procession was the finest ever seen In Albany. President Cleveland rode in the Fourth Division, in an open carriage, with Secietary Whitney. Immediately after the procession tho President and party went to the large rink on Lark street which was already densely packed by an audience. The exercises at the rink did not begin until 2:15 o'clock, although twelve o'clock was the hour assigned for lieginning. The overture from William Tel! by the orchestra was followed by a prayer by Ilishop Doane.
