which a national memorial to Rob ert E Lee may be accomplished A Bill was introduted in the In diana Legislature Monday by Mr Sweeney of Tell City appropriating 40000 for the relief of flood suffers in thai State The news that the House Com mittee had voted t thePLouisville pension office together with a number of others was received with consternation by the employes in Louisville Pure food bills modeled after the Federal laws have been introduced in both houses of the Tennesse LegislatureIndianapolis was Monday select ed as the meeting place of next years convention of the United Mine Workers The Tennessee Senate vester lay adopted a joint resolution in dorsing President Roosevelts ac ion in the Brownville affair The House Commiite on appro priations yesterday reported the Pension Bill carrying an appropn ation of 13S 138500 for 1908 The enemies of Senator Bailey have filed charges against him spec ifying a number of transactions with various trusts from which s alleged he received fees aggre gating over a million and a half dollars The action of the Texas Legislature Tuesday however in dicates that the Senator retains the confidence of his constituents and from this fact it is not believed that there is anything in the charges The Senator was reelected by a vote of 108 to 45 pretty strong evidence of his popularity and a sure sign that very few of his peo pie believe that he is guilty of wrongdoing The State of Texas the Nation and the Democratic party are to be congratulated on his re election He has served them all faithfully and well and is in a position to be of still greater service in the futureEx The work of tloubletracking the L N from the junction of the Kentucky Central and the Louis ville and Knoxville divisions at Sinks to the
