MEMBER OF KENTUCKY PRESS ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCEMENTS We are authorized to announce G T JOHNSON as a candidate for County Court Clerk abject to the action of he Republican party THE financial condition throughout the country is gradually grow t ing better with each succeeding r day atd panic which for a time t fseemed almost inevitable has pass ed we hope not to return IT is now Gov Wilson To some of us it would have sounded much ltbetter to have been able so say Gov tr Hager but such is not the case and therefore we can only make it the best of it with an earnest ap peal to the uew Governor to du as he has promised and all will be well Another week of gratifying re covery has been experienced in the stock market and since the panic security values show an advance of ten points and over on lead ing issues In bonds as well as in stocks there have been substantial gains Interior banks are rapidly getting over their fright and the whole situation is much brighter EVERY now and then there bobs up some fellow who thinks it is his Beckhamized duty to call a holt ofCol Watterson the vener able and brilliant editor ot the Courier Journal and proceeds to eat the Colonel up blood raw After the gas bag has busted the Colo nel proceeds in that style peculiar to himself and that is the last heard of that Watterson Roaster un til next heard of in Frankfort to see if the Governor didnt have another job for him or some other member of the family But since the Governor is down and out now and has no more patronage to offer it will be damn Waterson Beck ham and all the rest Congressman Edwards of the Eleventh district introduced a bill- which makes liquor shipped in in- terstate commerce subject to the police Jaws of each State as soon as It crosses the State boundary The reason for this bill is that dealers outside of the State may through the express companies and rail roads ship liquor into counties or precincts which under the laws of the State prohibit the sale of liquor so decided by the U S Court This bill ought to be passed but it is not very probable that it will get through If the National Congress fails to pass a law forbiding the shipment- of whiskey from one state to a local option territory in another then for the protection ofour State and its manufacturers we believe the Ken tucky law should be so ammended that those who will have the red juice can buy from the home manufactures and not send the money to other states to enrich those manufactures to the detri ment of our own State- DENATURED ALCOHOL Thet1ame alchohol is corn p olstdkohl meaning the
