We are informed that there are families and widow wo men with families living almost in the corporate limits of town who are in destitute circumstances This should be looked after There are three aged and not able to do hard manual labor but do feel confident of my ability to discharge the duties of Connty Court Clerk I went out ot jffice as County Court Clerk in Sept 1882 having been elected to said office in 1878 it being twenty seven since going out of office I have not asked the people for their support for office since 1378 and I now appeal to the voters of Rockcastle county to aid and assist me in obtaining said office and should you be so good and kind as to do so I will ever appreciate your kindness and always be found returning my thanks to you I was born and raised in old Rock castle county and her people feel very near and dear to me I am at this time one among the oldest citizens of Rockcastle county I have lived in this county all of my life and this is in all probability the last time that I will ever appeal to the people to give to me the office of County Court Clerk or any other office The time is so short from now until the election that I will not be able to get over all of the countyand I trust that the people will not expect me to I shall not use any money or liquor in this race With due respect and high consideration for every body I am very v Tear AGUf From the present indicationsit looks as though there might be somewhat ofa fight on in the muncipal election in Mt Vernon but we certainly hope that such will not be We can not offord to have dissension strfe and bitter feeling over the very thing we are all striving to have We are all interested in our town and thema who throws any stumbling block in the way of the towns progress is a poor citizen and not worthy of the name Spite work never gained L anything for anybody and instead usually brings dire and injurious results We appeal to our business e men to weigh in the scales of justice the right thing to do and then do that There are now two tickets and there ought not to be whichris right aud which is wrong or which will make the better board or whether either would do the things which should be done for the best interest of the town The liberal fair minded men who r have no ax to grind and no debt of Zrevenge to pay are the men to u II decide such matters For our part it makes no difference how many i tickets are in the field we propose a to cast our vote for five men fort trustees who will try to do the most for the town it makes no difference who they are or what ticket they are on What benefits part ol the people in town benefits all what injures part injures all and this fact we ask our citizens to please consider Let us do right and all will work right THE battle for political suprem acy in Rockcastle has started on a somewhat small scale yet the interest manifested is so far from fever beat that the casual observer would hardly know that there is any kind of H race on Both democrats and Republicans seem to be taking things easy and in a word there is comparatively nothing doing It is now less than three weeks until the election and at the same rate things are moving now the election will have come and gone F and half the people will not know the election is over It the candi dates on either side aredoing any work we have not been able to hear of it and unless the candidates put the ginger in the campaign there is certainly not going to be very much doing Wilbur Wright again broke worlds record in his aeroplane making a complete circle
