opinion for the best of all Every one of s has Drought to have a deep seated interest in the election ot our county officers There is no political principle involved HI a city and county election We should look solely at the candidate his experience and fitness and care nothing tor his party emblem Local government is oest advanced by dividing the local offices De tween Democrats and epublicans In the most progressive counties the citizens always have a mixed ticket As an example of this let us see who the officers are in this Kenton county ofwhich Covington is the principal city One of our Circuit Court Judges is a republican the Commonwealth Attorney your humble servant is a democrat The County Judge is republican The County Attorney is a demo crat The Circuit Court Clerk is a republican and the County Court Clerk a democrat The City Assessor is a democrat the County Assessor a republican The Sheriff is a democrat and the Chiefof Police a republican The Mayor is a republican and the Citv Cleric a democrat The Police Judge is democrat and the City Solicitor AttorneyMthough both city and county are Democratic and in a presidential year it gives more than two democrat if they believe he is entitled to the office We have reached that time in our political independence where in counting the ballots at the close of an election day you can hardly tell whether the voter in a local race is a republican or democrat in politics President Taft once said in a public speech in Akron Ohio that he would not vote the Republican city and county ticket in Cincinnati and Hamilton county should he be at home to cast his ballot More than once he h urged upon the people in local races to mix their officers Presi dent Roosevelt often advised local independence and the scratching of the ticket in greater New York and elsewhere Our own Governor Bradley elected by Democrats always proclaimed that wholesome doctrine of w ighing our Countrys welfare first in local races As a tribute to this spirit of independence Lincoln Blain rraftlCarlislehost of other great men in local races is it not our highest duty to vote and work for the election of D N Williams on the Democratic ticket for County Court Clerk It such Republican leaders and statesmen as Roosevelt and Taft can scratch in kcal races why cant you That D N Wiiliams is competent no one will deny That he has had the experience and is naturally fitted for the office all will admit His character his clerical temperament and his ability to fill this position well are strongand convincing arguments in favor of his election He is justly entitled to the support of those who wish that office to be kept by one who has been tried and proved a faithkil servant andwho will look solely to the proper management of that office and a pleasant reception of those WHo have business with him Some of the best efforts of my life have I given to the people of Rockcastle Constantly and stead ily have I for the splendid lesson it will teach for the great good it will do to go to work irrespective of party for the election of my father for County Court Cler k and thereby render a bene ficial and doctor knows this So do other wellinformed people One thing more When person lives Wrongly or acquires bodiiyweakness by heredity medicine can do only very little Medicine cannot cure him Only charlatans claim that medicines will cure disease Medicines may palliate symptoms Medicines may urge the powers of Nature to resist disease Medicines sometimes arouse the efforts of the human body to right Itself against de- rangements This is the most that med icine can do A man accidentally puts his finger in the fire Instinctively lie wets his finger in his mouth then blows on it for the cooling effect This is no cure He knows it very well But it makes it feel better for the time being People eat unwisely This produces dyspepsia or indigestion The only rational cure is to eat correctly Yet if a palliative is at hand the pains of indi gestion can be mitigated the throes of dyspepsia assuaged The medicine can not be said to have cured It simply palliates disagreeable symptoms The cure must come through right living Take Peruna for instance No one claims Peruna Is a cure for dyspepsia But Peruna will stimulate the stomach to perform Its function properly Peru ua will Increase the flow of digestive fluids without which digestion cannot be curried on at all It will increase the relish of food the appetite- It is admitted that all this can be accomplished by right living but there are so many people who either will not or do not know how to eat correctly that a tremendous amount of good can be done by the wise use of Peruna- A stomach that has been frequently abused performs the function of digestion very lazily Such a stomach allows the food to remain undigested for some tine after it is swallowed This leads to fermentation of the food Sour stom ach is the result This goes on week after week until the blood is poisoned with the products of fermentation This condition is very apt to produce rheum atism It is not claimed that Peruna will cure rheumatism Nothing will cure rheum atism but correct living But it is Claimed that Peruna will assist a badly bused stomach to perform its wofk If a person would correct his habita persist in right eating and temperate ways undoubtedly be stomach would right itself the blood fould rid Itself of the poison and everything would be right But as said before there are a multitude of people whowill notorcan a not adopt right methods of living To such peoplePeruna is ft boon A dose before meals will assist the stomach to do its work This prevents fermenta tion of the food brings about normal digestion and all the train of ills that follow indigestion disappear In other words Peruna is helpful to r those who live badly or those who have acquired some chronic weakness Peruna does not cure but it assists the powers of Nature to bring about a euro The whip docs not increase the power of the horse to pull a load but judi ciously used it stimulates the horse to lout t load Tinsillustrates the effect of or any other good remedy upon the syste-m Taken at tho right time it calls forth the powers of the human system to meet the en roachrnents of disease and thus cuts short if not entirely ends tho diseased action No one should ever attempt to substi tutu medicine in the place of right liv ing In the end such an attempt will prove a disaster But an occasional use t of the right medicine at tile right time is a godsend and no reasonable person will undertake to deny it Those who know bow to use Peruna find it of untold value By and by the world will get wiso enough so that through correct living no medicine at all will bo needed But that time has not arrived In the meantime whilo the world is approaching that perfecr4tion in which all medicine will inated Peruna is a nndy remedy to have in the house Blight derangements of tho stomach slight catarrhal attacks of the liver the throat bronchial tubes lungs or bow els these attacks are sure to lead to grave diseases and can be averted by the judicious use of Peruna Wouldnt you liko to reada few un solicited testimonials from people who have used Peruna and who stand ready to confirm tho above statements day I appeal to both republicans and democrats to arouse themselves to the importance of the office and the opportunity presented Urge m3 election for County Court Clerk and urge it kindly and reasonably I appeal to the people to lay aside party prejudice to show their patriotism and vote for political independence for their home and for the best in terest of our whole county If elected I solemly and sacredly pledge to every voter that the County Court Clerks office will be kept and managed by me indecency and in order My personal and undivided attention shall be given to the faithful performance of the duties connected therewith The records therein contains title to your property possibly all you have will be well and safely kept by me I shall do everything in my power to protect the interest of all the people and elevate the management of that office Ex perience in this and allother counties prove that you obtain the best service from your county officials when they are of different political parties They serve as balance wheels and the local affairs are thereby more safely soundly and economically administered- It therefore becomes the highest and most important duty of every taxpayer to assist by vote andvoice in my election See your neighbors and friends beseech them to vote for me that good government among us might be promoted and that faithful and honest public service heretofore rendered by me in this same office be justly re wardedNever again will I ask for this or any other office My very best efforts will be put forth to give entire satisfaction to the people aud to coduct it in such a manner as to set a good example for future clerks in the management of that officeIn this county I was born reared and have lived all my life Here the sacred ashes of a host of bId friends and of my blessed relaItiyesgood peoplefor I would die no where else shall I too becontent to breath my last and here be buried This will be your last opportunity to ever vote for one whose name is as old as the county for our family has figured in each epoch of the countys history Vote for one who has and will serve you well and who will everre1 member it with
