some assistance in constructing the Bromo and Mt Vernon pike is a thing of the past with nothingdone to help us in our stitlggl for better highways now it is my advice to everybody interested in public improvements to get busy and ere the leaves come and go again we can have a sample turnpike road in old Rock castle that will show to the people of Ky that Rockcastle was sincere in voting for constitutional amend ment and that we longed for some good road legislation So lets help ourselves it we cantget any help from tutsidesources- I was iu your town a few days ago and got the promise ofaU three of the gentlemen appointed to solicit subscription in town to make a resurrection at once of our subscription list and push it diligently till the required amount is raised or until they are fully satis fied that Mt Vernon does not want a pike but if everybody will do as Mr Hamlin says he will it will be a go Last fall oe was very liberal and offered 25000 but now he proposes to start the list with double that amount Let everybody be as liberal as they possibly cant and makeas large a list as possible let that be what it may then thecpuntry wiUdp the same after which weL shall decide whether i will be half enough to build said r adrIf itis decided thatit is we will then ask the fiscal court which meets in April to appropriate alike amount then petition the the county court tohave the road surveyed and located Then le- the x work out and w e an have a turn pike road beTortt191 iffa thing of the past I am perfectly willing that the people out Richmond road in time have a good pike as was suggested in last issue of your valuable paper but with the fight that we have been making for good roads pn this side otr the county that we should have the first consideration of the fiscalcourtIMost everJ body want better roads so cant we have at least a fewmiles As the 9 IP session of the Ky Legislature has ignored the wishes fa majority of the people by not enacting some who esprne road laws it would be wise for the people to select me pwho are strictly in favor of imi roement of our highways to represent hem in the 1912 session ofIthe Ke tucky legislature most everyVnan Womanor chid in the co rty know how I stand on that prop osition froui v f I have beei writing and offering for the up building of roads If the good people of his county in selecting that
