clothes and easily passed all pickets and out posts and pot as near home as Somerset in Pulaskicounty While spending the nieht with a farm er near that place they either told too much or failed to tell enough to satisfy their host that they were farmers sim ply riding around the country at any rate they were arrested before morning They each admitted to the sol diers making the arrest that they were Confederate soldiers Neither ol them was aware of the fact that General Burbridce bad issued an order that all Confederate soldiers captured within his lines dressed in citizens clothing would be many friends of Mr W T Du erson of the Pond meeting house neigh borhood will be glad to learn of his decision to make the race for Jailer subject to the action of the Democratic party From his boyhood days he has been a private in the ranks of Democ racy fighting as valiantly as he did during 616o when he was a gallant soldier in the regiment of the lamented Col Chenault He remembers with painful distinction the terrors and dangers of voting for uemocrats just after the war but he recalls with pleasure his changeless attitude toward his party and now he asks that party for its endorsement His credentials are of the best Remember his past ser vices A Death Bed Cbntession It will be remembered that about two yewrs ago Mr Albert Cornelison a farmer living on the Barnes Mill pike heard some parties in his chicken roost one night and on going out alter them they shot at him several times Mr Cornelison returned the shots anti the perpetrators took to their flight leaving behind the chickens which they had securely tied It was not known positively at the time who the guilty parties were but suspicion pointed to one Alex Campbell a negro living here who was arrested and agreed to accept one year in jail for the charges Alex however positively protested his innocence and the facts of the case were still a secret until a few days ago when Alex came to die when on his death bed made to his minister a com plete confession of the whole affair claiming as his associate in the theft one Lewis Hnguely Lakeside Peas 20e a can at Frasa Bros Phone 165 A Democratic Platform at Last
