used for educational purposes by tho trustees of the college but since the consolidation of the college at Richmond with Centre College at Danville and the school moved to the latter place the heirs of Col Walters believe that the trustees of the school have broken faith in the promises under which the land was accepted by them from the former wealthy Richmond banker The suit will be filed by Col W R Letcher of Richmond on behalf of his wife who is a daughter of the late Cot Walters and Was one of tho heirs of the vast estate left by him The property as it now stands is valued at 200000 as since the donation of the land by Col Walters tho ground was used for the erection of numerous buildings used fu connection with the college including eight handsome residences for the use of the the head of the Licking river In which McCoy received two loads from a shotgun inflicting a scalp wound gras ing the top of his lead and the other penetrating the back some of the lead entering the stomach The revenue man and his assistants had been searching for the sun for the past week and had just discovered It at the head of a deep ravine which could only be approached from one dl rection the sides and end being protected by precipitous mountain bluffs When the posse arrived they found it deserted although signs of a hasty departure were evident The posse proceeded to break up the still with axes but as soon as the first destruc tive blow had been struck a shot rang but and McCoy fell He soon realized that his wound was not a serious one and while giving orders to his assist ants the second shot was fired which compelled McCoy to retreat Henry Freeman dashed out of the building and rushed tip the hill whence the shots came He ran upon four men in ambush and enn a fusllado
