stillness swept over the assembly and every ear strained lest it lose one word that fell from the lips of the speaker eloquent His voice was clear and resonant penetrating every corner and for nearly enlarging both the white and colored school bnildincs If the bonds are voted it will add an average of S10C9 75 to the city taxes each year for 20 years but it will save over 2500 every year for the twenty years This saving consists in rents salaries of extra teachers and other unavoidable expenses There is absolutely no question that the tax rate will be lower with the bonds than with the rents and other expenses A vote for these bonds is a vote for lower taxes The health and welfare of 1700 children is involved in this question The Board of Education is anxious that every voter know the needs of the schools and that economy demands that rents and all unnecessary expenses be eliminated Sava the health of the child and the money of the taxpayers at tIme same time by voting YES next A Pennsylvania weather prophet predicts an unusually cold and hard winter because the shucks on the corn is extra heav- yRegarding Family Skeletons Here is a little sermon we found in one of our exchanges this week It is IIswhat you saw Do you ever stop loj think that some day tragedy may up its abode in vour home Cant you get it into your head that some day the tongue of slander may cut jou like a poisoned sword an1 the whisper of neighbors be as vinegar to your wounds Misfortune and disgrace may have struck your neighbor but it does not become you to get upon the housetop and shout it out to the world You will have all you can 3o to answer for j our own indiscretions Some day one near and dear to you may fall the prison walls may open to a son or the scarlet letter of eternity may blight a daughter When a home is mourn lug over a tragedy the best thinc you can do is to keep your mouth hilt unless you can say something that will como as a rift in the clouds Then again you know yqu may be no better than your imeigliborTue Only differ ence is that they were caught and you up to date have kept sunlight away Be charitable to your neighbor as you know not the hour nor the day when the light will appear in your sacred circle Name Your Farm There is no doubt but that a nameVin connection with a dairy fruit or 1 poultry farmor any other farm for that matter is a
